(38,958 posts)but I don't see an end to this anytime soon. At some point TSA and other unpaid workers will start to leave looking for other jobs to pay the bills and who would replace them?

(23,337 posts)might bring it around quicker. If this keeps up, folks are going to be taking other jobs with a more reliable paycheck. I wouldnt be too keen on working for nothing especially a shitty high stress job like TSA.

(32,777 posts)They're looking for the first chance to bring in private contractors to do the same work. So I'd say nope!
But I'm not employed (shutdown) by the federal government and maybe I'm not being fair. (?)

(10,061 posts)GOP could replace Mitch with Rubio or Cruz or someone else with Presidential aspirations willing to challenge Trump. There are enough votes to open the government in the Senate, and might even be enough to override a veto.

(10,061 posts)But one would think some GOP in the Senate might try to oust McConnell. Face it, any Senate leader can push through conservative nominees now...someone showing a little backbone to Trump could save the GOP from the ultimate grifter. They let Trump/Russia hijack their party to get in power...but are now seen effectively as powerless rubber stamps for whatever the grifter in chief demands.
Going against Trump's lifting of sanctions on Russia and specific Russians is a start.
