Sen. Klobuchar is fantastic, but she allowed him an out here.

For each affirmative answer to "If the president.... would that be obstruction of justice?" the followup question is "But would the president conceivably be immune from prosecution for it?"

It's fine for the AG to say, "If the president did that, it would be a crime." However, the more interesting question is, "Would the president be immune from prosecution for it?"

Because, in point of fact, immunity doesn't change the fact that it is a crime, but it does change whether there are going to be any consequences for it. So, Barr could truthfully state, "it would be a crime", but also believe that the president would have some sort of immunity or affirmative defense.
