I'm sure he will be named and taught a lesson eventually. Anything yet?

(4,365 posts)This seems to happen often. People rush to Facebook and Twitter and ID the wrong person.

(25,546 posts)i'm sure at least one unaffiliated person will be named to receive said lesson. anything yet?

(38,445 posts)but the demand to identify - especially the demand to identify quickly - plays a signifiant role in the number of people misidentified as having engaged in heinous acts. And they never get their good names back.
I've been posting to correct people on FB wherever I've seen him misidentified. For a while people were just uncritically accepting that the name that was being posted was the MAGA kid, but it's not him.

(4,602 posts)Doxxing is a violation of twitter policy, as is targeted harassment.

Frankly Id hope the same rules would apply here.

(648 posts)Your link states that "name" is among the things not considered private.
Loki Liesmith
(4,602 posts)But the moment you give out his name *and* place of residence you have committed a violation. You can expect that to be read liberally.
Yosemito
(648 posts)Strawman.
You're just finding things that are prohibited in Twitter, and pretending I want them.

(4,602 posts)Encouraging or calling for others to harass an individual or group of people
We prohibit behavior that encourages others to harass or target specific individuals or groups with abusive behavior. This includes, but is not limited to; calls to target people with abuse or harassment online and behavior that urges offline action such as physical harassment.

(648 posts)Twitter rules don't prohibit it.
I didn't realize this was Twitter. But now all the tweets on here make sense, so thanks.
Edit - and posting someone's name is pretty much exactly what doxxing is. And I don't agree with what these kids did but they are still minors.

If he would show his teeth in the recent video, it would be a dead giveaway

(5,805 posts)The person people are saying he is is on the right in the photos below, but he's obviously not the MAGA kid.

(428 posts)...that sanctions a trip for a group of MAGA hat wearing teen to counter protest a women's march to do the right thing.

(38,726 posts)are protecting him. By this time a name should have come out. I wonder if he will be expelled? I doubt it. Of course those are the Christian values to harass someone. Of course the Mega Hat is a real example of Christian love..

(2,284 posts)if you dig a little you should find it
like others have said, the first name a lot of folks were throwing around is evidently not the right guy and he did not even go on the trip

(8,736 posts)what he did identification is appropriate. Sad part is that he is acting out what he has been taught. I would think from his immediate family.
