There are others who I could end up backing before the primary starts as well. It is early; very very early. There are very few who I currently rule out supporting (in the primaries that is.) Bloomberg comes to mind, as does Gabbard. I would like a younger candidate than Biden or Sanders, though I have (differing) reasons to respect them both. I do not expect a perfect candidate. I've been to this dance several times before. Mud can be slung at anyone, and at least some of it will stick. That's life, and that's politics.
Edited to include Castro

My list has recently changed but not at the top. Only announced candidates.
1) Gillibrand/Warren/Harris
4) Castro
5) Andrew Yang
6) Gabbard
7) Delaney
100) Ojeda
I would like to see one or two of these people enter. Sherrod Brown, Booker, Kerry, Holder, Klobuchar, Stacey Abrams.
Additionally, I want to see an executives enter.
Big field.

(22,912 posts)I've followed him for a long time, and he has always impressed me. People talk up Biden for his ability to connect with the working class, or average Americans, or Reagan Democrats, pr Trump Democrats, or whatever phrase they prefer to describe non college educated whites. Brown has that also, and solid progressive credentials, and experience, and relative youth compared to Biden without some of the baggage Biden has accumulated over his many decades of public service. Plus Brown can win Ohio, and without Ohio the Republicans have little hope of winning the electoral college in 2020.
I think, realistically, we have at maximum one slot open on our ticket for a white male. If so, Brown tops my list for it.
