Nancy Pelosi has won the shutdown

Trump will say the following today:

1. Govt opening with a clean CR for 3 weeks.
2. If no progress toward wall in 3 weeks, he will "declare emergency" and take funds from DoD to build it.

There won't be another shutdown again in 3 weeks, because there's no way in hell the GOP - especially McConnell - is going to let it happen again. So there will be another clean CR in 3 weeks that will last for the year, and Trump will have to declare his emergency or not.

If he does... Courts will immediately block him. If he doesn't.... his base will abandon him.

Either way..... America wins. And Nancy can spike the football.

Thank God for Nancy Pelosi.

The courts won't have to block. From what I gather, there are dozens of "States of Emergency" in effect with at least one going back to Carter's Presidency -

I don't want to say that they are "meaningless" but in the grand scheme, they are. In his case he wants to be able to grab money out of a pot that has an appropriation (DOD) to give to some (probably Russian-associated) contractors.

Mr. Abramovich is part owner (with several other Russian billionaires) of a steel company called Evraz - located in Canada - which, coincidentally, is the only one which can manufacture the specific type of metal beams Mr. Trump wants for his wall.

while still high, is not as firm as it was a year ago. He was in the 90s before and now is around 80%? - it took George W Bush 4 1/2 years to drop below 80% among Republicans (hurricane Katrina) when he quickly went from like 81% to high 60s.

and, of the Trump supporters out there, fewer "strongly support" him as opposed to just "support" him.

So, while his support looks solid, it really is not.

fixes and Dad never said no. When the casino went bankrupt and the banks were closing in, they eventually bailed him out instead of letting him go down the tubes. The first wife claimed marital rape and was bought off and denied the allegation. He's had a giant clean-up crew following him around his entire life sweeping up his messes. Well, he's got one woman who will have none of it. No coddling Don, no clean-up crew. For the first time in his life he's being held accountable.
