Will it take two more weeks?

1. Probably right on the heels of having just lost everything.

2. One person I know who was deemed essential though the majority of his workplace was furloughed

told me early on in the shutdown that if it ended a day or two before the 11th (the date of the first missed paycheck) he thought they'd still get paid on time. So maybe just a couple of days, but it probably depends on the specific department/agency and workplace.

3. Thank you RockRaven

Hopefully, they will begin to receive some of their back pay next week.

4. Today would have a pay day for many

(others were earlier this week - e.g., Tuesday). But I think agencies may try to expedite them out next week rather than wait until the next pay day which would be February 8 (February 2nd being the end of the current pay period). At that point, employees would get a normal pay check February 8th and February 16th would be the end of a pay period with a "last" (hypothetical if there is no agreement) check forthcoming on February 22.

7. I am very impressed

with the knowledge of the people on this forum. You all are better than google. You speak with wisdom and forethought; something that is very hard to find these days.

8. I am a 30+ year retired fed

I.e., been there done that.

On a more positive note - the breaking news is that the Senate just passed the CR bill and it is now headed to the House (for debate and vote) and they expect it to be signed this evening.
