While Nancy rightly gets most of the credit. Don't forget Chuck's most valuable contribution.

He got trump to claim full credit for the shut down on TV while Republicans still were in control.

That set a narrative trump could never shake. And will last thru the rest of his term.

Of course I doubt he could have goaded trump into it were Future Speaker Pelosi not sitting there scaring the shit of trump.

It was the greatest political one upsmanship I have ever seen. And showed trump for the idiot he is.

3. He also was strong enough to sing harmony to Nancy's lead vocal.

Everyone can't do that. Impressive.

7. That's a great point I had not thought of.

All politicians by nature have a strong ego. It’s a requirement.

The fact he let Speaker Pelosi take the lead, even though it was obvious she was the one with real power is worth noting.

As a 50 something year old male, whose wife often has to put me in my place, I guess it was not a given he would allow her to be the leader.

But I’m a guy, and too often think like a guy.

Thanks for your comment.

8. Can't get the image out of my mind...

...of Chuck Schumer sitting with Nancy Pelosi next to Trump as Donald was arrogantly owning the shutdown... and Chuck wasn't even looking at him, he was looking right at the camera grinning like he just ate a canary and was about to spit out the feathers.
