I was sort of hoping she'd schedule it after February 15th to hold it over the Madman's head. Tommy_Carcetti Jan 2019 #1

But she proved herself to be the boss last week, so I won't question her judgment with it.

According to the Chinese, 2019 is the "Year Of The Earth Pig" starting on Feb 5th. So that's an appropriate day for Two Scoops to do his SOTU snake oil pitch.

This is the bargaining chip which means the most to Trump, and she's giving to him before he's performed the required task...

Here were no federal workers to make it happen logistics wise. It is a massive enterprise just in security to have every branch of government under one roof. All of the President’s cabinet attend, both houses of Congress attend and all the members of the Supreme Court are there. That’s a terrorist’s wet dream of a target.

Giving him a new date means he had to reopen the government which means he doesn’t get much in reality.

He shut the government down before Nancy uninvited him to the SOTU. He shut it down because he thought he could bully the Congress to give him his wall. He still doesn’t have his wall. He lost that gambit.

If so, the SOTU is not leverage.

Trump won't be able to effectively shutdown the government without facing blowback from his own party.

Or maybe she's messing with him, acting as if she knows something he doesn't know.

Still, if he wants to shutdown the government there isn't anything she can do to stop him. So have at it Donnie.

They'd be missing the designated survivors, but otherwise every one is right there.

Hey, it's cold in Minnesota this week, need to have some warm thoughts.

that the Dems will be in a stronger position to negotiate and force him not to shut down the government on February 15.
