Kamala Harris: "The Governor of Virginia should step aside..."

Leaders are called to a higher standard, and the stain of racism should have no place in the halls of government. The Governor of Virginia should step aside so the public can heal and move forward together.

to all the standards and values that she held thirty-five years ago. It is good to know that growth, maturity, and changing viewpoints have no place in the Democratic Party. That position makes it so easy to condemn other Democrats for foibles and lapses of judgement that occurred over thirty-five years ago. Everybody knows that the world is totally static, so adaptability to change is a trait we cannot tolerate in our leaders.

I used to live in Virginia. The racism was and still is
commonplace in rural areas.
That's why I moved out when I retired.

Racism makes me sick, watching people get treated like dirt just because of their race made me so angry.

What i liked most about the movie though was the guy who played the driver started out racist and changed by learning.

I respect her opinion, but if the plan is to take a zero tolerance position on incidents from 35+ years ago, that same standard might eliminate every single one of our potentials. It eliminates Beto because of things from his past. And I'm sure someone will drag up something said or done by Sen Harris or Sen Booker 35 years ago as well. And by leading the charge, she's setting herself up for having the same swift rush to judgment used against her. But that's just my humble opinion.

To assess whether Northam should step down, I'd have to take a look at his policies to see if they are stealthily encouraging institutional racism or if his administration is taking steps towards leveling the playing field and providing opportunities for people of color. Second, who will go up in his place, a trump-sycophant? How would someone like that help, especially considering an election is coming up next year. I know my fraudulently elected racist governor will be doing everything in his power to suppress the vote next year. Is that what the plan is for VA too? To get Northam to resign so a GOP thug can take control?
