in at least their adult life that could be recorded, photographed, or witnessed
by two or more people at anytime, anyplace in their life to see if it is considered
offensive by current standards. This procedure must be done annually due to
changing values. No excuse for "hiding" aka not remembering every last detail
of one's adult life subject to the above conditions. Intent, context and current
actions notwithstanding. A speck is the same as a beam, a gnat the same as an
elephant, the molehill the same as a mountain. Any action renders such person
the same as a klansman, a misogynist or any really bad person.

A person doesn't just forget running about in a FUCKING KLAN UNIFORM or blackface and being called "CoonMan" as your "nickname." Let's NOT make excuses or even worse make light of and minimize blatant, heinous racism.

Jesusfuckingchrist.

discussions about what might pop up to haunt them on the campaign trail. It's vital that they take the time to do so, as a kind of stress test against an increasingly brutal campaign environment. What *is* hard is determining what to do about issues that might come up. Do you bring it up yourself and address it, or develop a crisis response plan in the event the opposition comes up with it? The answer varies by incident and campaign philosophy and all sorts of things, but it must be done. When it appears that it hasn't been done, my judgment about the suitability of the candidate (or, if the candidate was lucky enough to get elected, the official) goes way, way down, at the very least.
