All this Northam stuff is interfering with my Trump bashing. I am not a good multitasker. Time to move on.

But if the party doesn't put heavy pressure on him to step down, THAT will hurt the party.

No Democratic candidate will campaign with him in his own state. He'll have difficulty getting out the vote, especially among black voters in his state. Those pictures will be thrown in his - and our - face 24-7.

He's toast. And if he stays, he'll be an albatross.

etc...it's time for the party to act in some way. What a mess of a press conference.

Northam: Really what I think is best is if we have a conversation about these painful things.

NAACP, VLBC, etc: Please resign.

Northam: I really want to hear from people while I remain governor about how we can resolve these issues.

NAACP, VLBC, etc: How about you resign.

Northam: It's important to listen to each other about these things to build a better and more just society.

NAACP, VLBC, etc: Resigning would be a good start.

Northam: Yes, I'm really looking forward to these discussions.

As you indicate, a political party connotes political action and reaction. This can't stand unopposed. He is an executive. Our response as a party has to be sustained, sober and consistent.

It is giving credence to the tired “both sides” argument. The Republican Party is full of racists and push racist policies, but every time we call them out on it they will drag out Ralph Northam, just like they still like to drag out Robert Byrd whose been dead for a decade and was in the KKK over 69 years ago.

Just a few minutes ago. Unbelievable. I made a couple of posts here and then the phone rang. She said, "Did you hear about that racist governor who is a Democrat?"

Obviously her friends must be telling her about it because she doesn't have cable and doesn't follow politics. Maybe it was on the local FOX affiliate, which is all she watches. Regardless, she sounded absolutely delighted.

Just one example like this and they use it as ammo to pretend there is no difference between the two parties on topics like this.
