Two of Georgia’s all-time greatest running backs set to meet up again in Super Bowl

Todd Gurley and Sony Michel both enjoyed illustrious careers at the University of Georgia and now the pair of former teammates will square off in the biggest games of their respective careers in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

For Georgia fans, the postseason success that Michel is enjoying is nothing new. He helped lead the Bulldogs in 2018 to a win in the Rose Bowl and an appearance in the National Championship. His decision to attend to UGA was partly influenced by Gurley as he wanted to test himself against the best running backs in the country, Michel said.

“I watched him,” Michel said. “I looked up to him to see his work ethic and how he worked and played football.”

Gurley said in a separate press conference leading up to the game that Michel was like his little brother when the pair played at Georgia.

I am a UGA Bulldog and we have a lot of incredible UGA players on both teams. However, I am a “Gurley Girl” (Dawg slang for female Todd Gurley fans) and I don’t like Tom Brady. I am torn though, because I love Sony Michel (Patriots) and all of our former UGA players on both teams.

40. Definitely a tough decision

I am a male UGA alum (graduated 30+ years ago) and, as you say, there are former Bulldogs on both teams. However, the memory of the Falcons choking away a 28-3 halftime lead when they played the Patriots in the Super Bowl tends to make me favor the Rams.

I don't know why, but she only seemed to pay attention to football when Mr. Retrograde was watching the Rams - she didn't seem interested in any other teams. The current cat doesn't seem to care about any football teams.
