Holy shit! Army running helicopter exercises in Los Angeles.

They actually landed on Wilshire. To put that is perspective that would be like landing on 5th Ave, or Park Ave, or Main Street in your town. Appears that there was no warning, scared the shit out of local residence.

Now why would the Army do this? I can think of two options, and neither is good.

Post the links over there please. I can never recall Army exercises in a city setting. Again, I can only think of two good reasons for this practice and neither is good.

5. I'm really close to Camp Pendleton.

So close that the house shakes whenever they have military exercises. They have never gone off base to do anything like this. And there are military helicopters flying by everyday as well.

And, there is always a notice on their Facebook page to let us know when they will be having drills.

That would have scared the living daylights out of me if I had been in Los Angeles when this happened.

As I said before, something really ain't right. What in the world is happening to our country?

Pendelton is a major marine base along the coast. They have areas to simulate experiences for pilots.

Why use Downtown LA when you can simulate it?

1. There is actionable intelligence that the Wilshire corridor is a target. Likely the biggest target for ME terrorists on the West Coast

2. Intimidation of the West Coast. Potential exercises in Long Beach don't make a lot of sense unless the threats are to shipping. Port of LB and LA are the largest ports in US. If tied to actionable intelligence then intimidation is off the table.

Every time there are military aircraft in the sky over populated areas, you're taking that risk, but some risk is unavoidable. Deliberately planning a close training operation in the middle of a populated area seems pretty avoidable to me.

12. There are big groups of Blackhawk helicopters doing exercises at Los Alamitos Reserve Base.

The Los Alamitos base is a large Joint Forces base just south of L.A. (30 miles) and about 90 miles north of San Diego's Camp Pendleton. It has a big air strip, but is usually pretty quiet. I've lived in the Los Alamitos area for decades and have never seen helicopter exercises like this.

They've been flying over my neighborhood the last couple nights making a lot of noise. Those choppers produce quite a racket just by whirring by. They're doing it again tonight. It's really fucking up my sleep.

27. The Military has been doing training like this for years

They recognize that the future battlefields will likely be urban and they need to train for it. They always put out a media statement and attempt to warn the local residents, although there are always those who don't get the world.

As to why real cities and not military training areas, the reason is quite simple. You can't replicate mega-cities on military bases so you need to train in real cities.

This is from Reuters this morning.
Looks like a big clusterfk.
China & Russia have holdings & eyes on Venezuela's Oil as well.
Trump's recent sanctions have created a mass of oil tankers in the southern Gulf waters, all loaded up & no where to go until V sets up a point of the pre-payments Maduro demanded before oil can leave the country.

The pre-payments came about in retaliation to Trump's sanctions.
US buys a lot of oil from V, for our refinerys., where it gets mixed with naptha to lighten the weight of V's heavy crude.
We then sell it on the global market.

It appears Trump's sanctions on V has created a standoff with Maduro demanding pre-payment.

China & Russia aren't going to wait forever till Trump & Maduro makeup & open the oil spigot.

Just a suggestion as to the possible increase in military ops as noted.

War for Oil isn't a new thing for the US, & consider John Bolton sits close to Trump.

It would not suprise me if this is in the works if Maduro doesn't comply.

I hope not. For the citizens of Venzuela & the unrest a war of this nature would bring to North & South America.

Is this why Trump is calling our troops back from the ME?
And is this the real reason why he demands a wall to seal our southern border?
Because this war for oil has been in the planning for longer than we know of?

Maybe I'm overreacting to another drumbeat of War for Oil.

32. I Was In Denver A Week Or Two Before The Dem Convention There And....

was being dropped off at my hotel by a friend when all of a sudden - helicopters came roaring down the street we were on - circling the downtown area near the convention center - and landing on roofs of certain buildings. This all came out of nowhere. There were no warnings. Everybody in the area was freaked out and scared because we didn't know what was happening.

Later that night it was broadcast on the night news and in the papers in the morning that it was the military doing a drill in case there was an attack at the convention center during the Dem Convention.

Why this might be happening in LA? Are there any national events coming up in LA? Award shows where there may be tons of people showing up? The military might be training for that.
