Realists -- my thinking is this -- every time someone calls us a socialist (or any one of their so called derogatory names that the R's will undoubtedly call us), we must come back to this "we are the Realist Party." We Democrats understand the truth, the facts, and the basic needs of all people. We will not hide who we are and what we stand for! You can label us to your liking but we will cover all of your futile name calling by repeating our positive message, and in doing so, we will be highlighting your lost sense of moral values!

1. I explain what democratic socialism is

It's using our tax money to provide public services. All of the military, the post office, our local, state, and national parks, our local schools and state universities, FEMA, the CDC, NASA, interstate highways, PBS radio and TV, the mint, customs, the EPA, our military academies, etc etc. People understand this.

It's not communism.

2. I get vilified by MAGAts all the time....

when posting on my Local Newspaper's message boards when I comment. Many of them, I report their comments as SPAM because they attack me and do not lend to the conversation at hand. I report the facts and they cannot stand that.

I stand up for myself and that gets them madder when I call them out without name calling or demeaning them.

Republicans engage in wishful thinking and then act or legislate as if their fantasies are truth.

Remember Limbaugh's "The Way Things Ought to Be"? This is how Republicans operate.

Thus:

"The middle class OUGHT to have health care, so we don't need any laws to make it a right."

"Workers OUGHT to be able to make ends meet, so they should be fine with wages that have the same buying power as in the 1950s."

"The air and water OUGHT to be clean, so we don't need to take action to make sure that happens."

"Blacks OUGHT to be treated as equals, so they don't need any special attentions from us."

"The budget OUGHT to be balanced, so let's reward the rich and not worry about the math."
