It's all about the Apocalypse:Another disturbing reason behind the right wing's pro-Israel obsession

I am Jewish. It is no secret among Jews as to why so many right wing religious types support Israel. These religious zealots believe that the existence of Israel will help speed the end days. https://www.rawstory.com/2019/02/apocalypse-another-disturbing-reason-behind-right-wings-pro-israel-obsession/

Politics professor Elizabeth Oldmixon explained in an interview with Vox the strange thread of Christianity that fosters an apocalyptic vision the inspires much of the right-wing support for Israel.

“These are the folks who believe that there will be a millennium in the future, a golden age, where Christ reigns on Earth, [and] they believe that before Christ will return, there will be a tribulation where Christ defeats evil,” she said. “There will be natural disasters and wars, and perhaps an Antichrist, as the book of Revelations notes. Then at the end of that period, the people of the Mosaic covenant, including the Jews, will convert. Then after their conversion, the great millennium starts.”

She continued: “You have this group of people looking around for signs of the end time, and in the 20th century when Israel was founded, this was seen as a major sign. This was electrifying for that community because the gathering of all the Jews in exile to the Holy Land is a prerequisite for all of these events unfolding. So for the subset of evangelicals in the 20th century, support for Israel became a really, really important political position.”

And as evangelical Christianity grew into a central part of the GOP’s coalition, pro-Israel policies became cemented in the party’s ideology.

The alliance between the evangelicals and pro-Israeli Jews, though, is a peculiar partnership. The Christians enter into the bargain with the assumption that, when they reach their goal of the apocalypse, any Jews will either become Christians or go to hell. But their pro-Israel allies don’t seem to mind this much, perhaps because they don’t believe this version of the apocalypse will ever actually come to be — and as long as it is just a fantasy, their interests and those of evangelicals remain aligned.

Israel and Jewish politicians are well aware why people like Hagee and evidently Mike Pence support Israel.

This goes along way to explaining what they are doing. They don't care about the planet or its people. They want a grand war that destroys everything. These people are very cult like. So crazed by this stuff that they are forgetting all the other teachings of their bible which says they will spend eternity in hell. They have forget the true faith and are playing god. God will not be pleased.

It’s not all that strange. It’s pretty mainstream among Christians to believe that all Hell has to break loose in Israel for Jesus to come back.

144,000 Jews will be saved, but the rest are going to eternal death.

The relocation of the US embassy in Israel was to appease the right wing religious nut jobs https://www.cnn.com/2017/12/08/opinions/jerusalem-israel-evangelicals-end-times-butler-bass-opinion/index.html

When the President issued his order, I was not the only person hearing echoes of dispensationalism. Robert Jeffress, one of Trump's evangelical advisers, declared: "Jerusalem has been the object of the affection of both Jews and Christians down through history and the touchstone of prophecy."

Other evangelical pastors and teachers also praised the action as "biblical" and likened it to a "fulfilled prophecy."

While that may sound benign (or perhaps nutty) to the theologically uninitiated, they are referring to the "prophecy" of the conversion of the Jews, the second coming of Jesus, the final judgment, and the end of the world -- the events referred to as the biblical apocalypse.

I doubt that President Trump could explain dispensational pre-millennialism. I doubt he knows the term. But his evangelical supporters know it. Some of his advisers are probably whispering these prophecies in his ears. Trump might not really care how they interpret the Bible, but he cares that white evangelicals continue to stand with him. Moving the embassy to Jerusalem is one way to affirm his commitment to these evangelicals -- reminding them that he, Donald J. Trump, is pressing biblical history forward to its conclusion and that he is God's man in the unfolding of these last days.

The kind of people who wouldn't let Jews into their country clubs seem to be unusually pro-Israel. But, that's the fact that Speaker Pelosi has to deal with when she admonishes Democratic representatives who go out of their way to knock Israel, without specifically targeting the current leadership of Israel.

believe the Trumpster was hand-selected by God. Which makes me wonder: As what? The Great Destroyer? If we want to get really nutty, we can conjure up that overpriced property that was killing Jared Kushner--666 Fifth Avenue--which he finally offloaded. And wasn't it on Fifth Avenue that the Trumpster said he could shoot someone and not lose a single vote?????

The temple must be rebuilt for a third time.

The Jews must convert.

Then the Christ will return.

Israel formed and many Jewish people from around the world went to live there. We got our AntiChrist on 2016 election night. What is next in the prophesy?
