"We are not elected to get re-elected. We are elected to govern and use our best judgment."

Heidi Heitkamp on Lawrence when he asked her how she felt now about her Kavanaugh vote, knowing it may well have cost her re-election. She said she has never regretted it. Also said something about history looking kindly on that vote, as well as her vote against the tax bill, even though it may not have been popular in her state.

One of the best things I have heard from a politician in years! Too bad that most of them don't think that way. At least the republican ones don't.

when all the Dems passed ObamaCare, and many of them lost their seats.

Some courage there.

When push comes to shove, Democrats will vote their values regardless of political cost. Republicans, on the other hand, are more concerned with their political futures. And the Orange Buffoon in the White House knows this and uses that fact to his advantage.

Maybe the next president, who MUST, please. please. please, be a democrat can find a cabinet post for her.

My Clarion call for Democratic Politicians since the ACA.

'We do what's right, REGARDLESS of the consequences.' should be the unofficial motto of our 2020 field.

In another age, it was stated as 'let JUSTICE be done, tho the Heavens fall.' I think we need that again.

he'll rule anti-abortion.

She wasn't just sent there to govern. She was sent there to represent her constituents...who apparently did not want Kavanaugh on the S.Ct. So in a sense, they ARE sent to the Senate to get re-elected. If they don't get re-elected, they probably didn't do their job.

But I suppose my explanation still holds. Her job is really to represent her constituency. If they wanted Kavanaugh....

Because....I looked it up. She was replaced by a Republican. Who will not be voting for Democratic bills.

But she made the right call, since he has no business being on the S.Ct.

When Heidi voted against Kavanaugh, Lawrence went on the soap box for her. North Dakota for sure has gone to the dark side.
