Stepping in shit is a mistake. Stepping in it on purpose is crazy.

No one really knows how many Americans voted for Trump. For some reason, they didn't know shit when they saw it, so they voted for him. But given Russian interference, machines that switched votes, "lost" votes, and a variety of other tactics used to fuck up elections, was he actually elected?

Now, we're headed toward another presidential election. And, assuming he's still in office, he's planning to run again.

Stepping in shit by accident is one thing. Stepping in shit intentionally is inexplicable.

There are a lot of fools who I just don't understand. They've gotten fucked over for the past two plus years, yet, they just can't wait to vote again to get fucked over some more: -- On taxes, on benefits due them, on healthcare, and on countless public services.

I know that bigotry plays a huge role here. I know that ignorance of reality is a part of it. And I know that a lot of it is just plain stupidity.

It seems we've reached a point where the obituary of America may read: This great Democracy was brought down by greed, hate, and ignorance. Many citizens saw the shit and waded into it.

Those heretics think Catholics aren't even Christian. Those right-wing evangelicals have been brainwashed to believe that the Catholic faith amounts to devil worship (I think they're projecting).

"108,003,944 did vote

65,853,514 voted for Hillary Clinton"

~~~~~~~~~~ <> ~~~~~~~~~~
The Trump and Clinton votes add up to 128,838,342. Considering there were votes for other candidates as well, the total electorate had to be more than ~108M.
Your overall point is well-taken, though: People need to get off their duff and vote. 54% participation in a national election is a disgrace...
entered national politics, I believe Democrats would almost ALWAYS win, just based on focusing as we do on better health care, better personal income , better job security, better financial security for older folks, equal rights for women and minorities, EVERYTHING across the board...but abortion trumps them all for so many voters that I believe it truly swings MILLIONS of votes that would go to Democrats.
I don't know if this is a subject that will get me banned, I hope not, I totally support Roe v Wade and a woman's right to choose, it's just my observation based on a 67 year life in which I've known lots of otherwise fine people who have voted against their own self interests over and over, just because of this.
so as not to be too obvious. You can't tell me Rick Scott won the Senate race in Florida when everyone knew he was worth $83 when taking office as Governor, put his assets in a blind trust, accepted no salary, and was worth over $200 million when he ran for the Senate. Why would people vote for him knowing that? It's insane! Voting machines had to be tampered with. There is no other explanation unless people just want crooked people in office.
Has to do with reinstating PAPER BALLOTS as the only form of voting.
Not that it's likely to happen with pootin's puppet and his gop criminal co-conspirators in the White House and Senate.
Virginia.
Our Republicans have cranked up for our 2019 state general election and it's clear the themes they are using against Democrats here are the themes that will be used nationally:
-- Democrats want to rip babies from the womb and murder them
-- Democrats want to impose socialism (no one knows what socialism is but it sounds scary)
-- Democrats are pushing a "Green New Deal" that will turn us all into Amish -- no cars, no electricity . . .
And the goobers are falling for it.
Remember: Half the population is below average intelligence.
Dr. Tyson had other examples of potential doom to offer. He pointed to a half dozen major examples of big scientific projects that were either non-starters, despite their eventual value, and some where the plug was pulled after they'd already started.
He recalled how the US was an absolute BEACON of scientific and technological development, and how series it is that the unquestioned world leadership of the US has almost certainly crested.
Once that happens, he said, it's only a matter of time until irrelevance is reached.
He's a difficult man to refute, so I wouldn't even try, even if I did disagree with him....which I don't.
This is sad and falls back to the possibilities that yes we could lose our Democracy and also leads to understanding how in fact the Nazi Party was able take over Germany and Europe
But Remember..I believe that many of the loud mouths we see at the Idiots rallies are probably felons and not eligible to vote. They are just that White Supremacists making noise.
They're not the ones stepping in shit. We are. No matter what they do, no matter what they and their cult leader destroy, they are always - repeat always - in the right. That's what they hear every single day. They are right. We are wrong. We are a threat. Liberals, black people, Muslims, LGBTQ, Hispanics, other non-white people. Threats to their very existence. In Iowa and Ohio, etc. Even if they've never met a Muslim or black person, or gay person, or Hispanic, or liberal. We are the threat.
We are most definitely in Bizarro World.
