Take a step back and BREATHE.
Please stop with the "He's gonna dissolve Congress and the Supreme Court!!!!!" nonsense
He is not, nor can he even if he wants to. The law that authorizes national emergencies provides ZERO authority to suspend the constitution or Congress or anything else. It deals with using DOD funds, personnel, and material for projects related to national security outside of direct congressional appropriation not tossing SCOTUS out on their asses or suspending elections or lining up and shooting representatives. Truth is the emergency declaration is pure political theatre Trump knows damn well that Roberts will almost certainly side with the 4 liberal justices against this move thereby stopping it. Nothing more than some red meat for his deplorable base so he can tell them he did all he could to get the wall built.

1. Trump is going to have so many court rulings against Presidential power
It's going to flip around and hamstring future office holders, regardless of political party, for decades.

4. Side with the four American justices you mean
The four justices that put the American people above rightwing billionaires.
The four justices chosen by a real political party, not a autocratic formation controlled by rightwing donors. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are clearly illegitimate. But we shouldn’t let th country forget that Thomas, Alito, and Roberts were chosen by the billionaire-and-corporation-funded Federalist society to vote for billionaires and corporations and against average American. |

5. And he will be handing Nancy Pelosi
the opportunity to force every republican in Congress (both houses) to go on record as being for it.

7. This is wrong.
Yes, we need to be rational, and not lose our minds.
However, Trump is pulling all of the levers of authoritarianism. The biggest threat we face is normalizing the abnormal. This thread, in a quest for reason, is itself going too far. We need to push back hard on this, because the GOP is terrified of losing power, and will not resist the slide toward authoritarianism... Because that side moves in their direction. |

10. That's right. Stand up and say it: "The GOP is a national emergency"
The right's PR strategy right now is to say that people are overreacting, that everything is going to be ok. Because they fear what will happen to them if America realizes what is going on. The GOP and Trump are national emergency and we all should start talking about it.

8. He's is gonna "dissolve" the courts. SCOTUS is majority-rightwing-idealogue
You underestimate the effects of the GOP packing the federal courts with rightwing apparatchiks.
Don't sleep on that. |

9. Roberts is not going to buy into his "emergency"
I'm no fan of Roberts but I can see he's got enough intelligence to know better than to just go along with everything Trump wants to do.
The right-wing (Coulter and Limbaugh are not the real thing) and the US oligarchs don't give a shit about Trump's wall. Not only does it not do anything for them, it makes it more difficult for them to employ low-wage workers for their corporate farms, chicken processing plants, seafood processing plants, etc. Trump is not really the person in power. The oligarchs behind him are. Roberts is there for the establishment GOP, not the Trump GOP. Trump is no more a part of that than he is a part of the Palm Beach crowd even though he has property there. The wall makes no logical, nor financial sense. It doesn't further the goals of the NRA, the Chamber of Commerce, ALEC, etc. The lower courts will rule against Trump and SCOTUS, if it chooses to take a case, will also. |
