If I had to choose between Corporate Socialism, or Socialism for the People, I'm choosing the people.
Corporate Socialism places all the risk of business in the hands of the public, but privatizes the profits.
Corporate Socialism demands BILLIONS, UPON BILLIONS in tax break, but argues "there's no money to help Americans pay for education".
Corporate Socialism enables companies to pay shit wages to their laborers, while the public picks up the tab for social welfare programs to help ensure Corporate Socialist Indentured Servants can feed themselves and their children.
Corporate Socialism claims there's no money for wages to rise, while shopping for their 5TH Vacation Home and 3RD Yacht.
Corporate Socialist will argue that $3 Billion in Tax-Breaks for Amazon are necessary for them to hire...MAYBE...20,000 laborers, but if you point out that with $3 Billion, you could send 30,000 people to college at $25,000 per year for 4 years you're a "Socialist".
Makes me wonder. Would I get a better return on my investment from 30,000 College Graduates, or a Corporate distribution center?
I'm thinking it's not even close, but then again, those 30,000 Americans don't carry Retrumplicans around in their pockets like so many nickels and dimes.

(12,590 posts)They know that their base has a visceral reaction to the word "communism," based on decades of government propaganda. They're betting that if they keep using the word "socialism" as they did communism during the Cold War they can get same result from low-information voters -- create a deep fear of a system which actually contains all the elements 70% of voters say they favor: universal healthcare, free post-high school education, extensive eldercare which includes a livable social security distribution, clean air, clean water, etc.
There are highly successful hybrids which combine features of both capitalism and socialism -- Norway has such an economic system, and they rank high on the satisfaction of life scale.
