(5,825 posts)I mean that is his goal supposedly.
I guess we'll have to wait and see where it all comes from.

(731 posts)I'd like to know how much of Bernie's Big Day came from Our Revolution.
Speaking of lack of transparency, what about those tax returns?

I think that the only way to get the corrupt or the crazy out of our political circus is to legislate federally-funded-only elections for all candidates (the states will have to decide for themselves for state offices). No fundraising, and everyone gets the same shake. It would free up elected officials (especially House members) to actually do their jobs instead of having to fundraise from day one of their tenure for the next two-year cycle. It would put all presidential candidates on the same playing field, so we could actually listen to them rather than count their war chests. It would free our inboxes of the tens of thousands of dramatic pitches we will be receiving over the next 622 days!
I know the current Supreme Court would never allow this, but it is my fervent hope for the future. The only way to get our government back on track: get rid of all the donations, big or small.

(35,176 posts)At this point I am incredibly happy that we have many who are doing quite well. I am not going to vote for Bernie without his taxes but I will support his run because he has a good vision for this country and win or lose we have seen the positives from his last run and his being out and about speaking. What we want eventually has to be pushed from the what we want eventually point and not from the point of tiny steps forward that really do not help because it is just too slow. Start asking for the stars and take less rather than asking for less and taking less than that.
Whatever, the bitterness had better fade at some point because no matter what anyone says he may be the candidate. Unlikely? Maybe, but nobody knows yet how this will go.
I will be very curious to see if we hear the same from those who accused Bernie Bros (whoever and whatever (if) they ever were).
MrsCoffee
(5,825 posts)And I'm bitter?
Yeah, Bernie Bros were a myth, lol.
You go with that talking point. I will continue to believe my own eyes and ears.

(35,176 posts)People have who they like and what they like and we are all allowed to say and be those things. This constant pointing out about Bernie supporters and trying to stop them from being excited about someone they like is childish and boring and also amusing.
So is all the, "He is a Russian." "He works for Trump." So you just go ahead with your bitterness. It is joking over coffee in my house as I read all this to my family. Our morning laugh and oddly since he ran the last time there has always been plenty of this over all these years. It seems almost, I don't know, obsessive?

(37,748 posts)same from those who accused Bernie Bros (whoever and whatever (if) they ever were)..."
They're the ones who jeered John Lewis for no other reason than political expediency.
They're the ones who felt righteously compelled to explain that African Americans simply didn't know any better than to vote for X (X= anyone other than Sanders).
They're the ones who pretended that fiscal equality would erase racism.
Hope that helps...

Actually, it was Bernie himself who recently reiterated that abortion rights need to be negotiable.
I can multitask.
I have a sugar high from the other candidates!

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
