IF you do not see who you like, PLEASE LIST THEM in your post-- other choices: Bernie Sanders, Beto O'Rourke, Andrew Yang, Marianne Williamson, John Hickenlooper, Steve Bullock, Michael R. Bloomberg, Sherrod Brown, Jay Inslee, Mitch Landrieu, Terry McAuliffe, Jeff Merkley, or who ever you think should be there. Choices came from this source: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/us/politics/2020-presidential-candidates.html

(45,181 posts)I am curious where people are at this early point... I might even change my mind... so there is nothing where you have to chose now who it would be for you. And, I can post this when ever I feel the need to test the pulse of this website.

(45,181 posts)If you have done any kind of a poll here, you would know there is only ten spots on this poll. As for where I got my information it was from this website: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/us/politics/2020-presidential-candidates.html
I have STATED that if you don't see who you like you can just put their name down in your posting. This is not an Official DU listing, I am just curious where people are going. Despite what you think, I have NEVER HAD ANY influence on what people do or say here. So Even if I like a candidate, I may change my mind in the future. There is nothing Nefarious about this poll, okay? Either do it, for your own choice or LIST who you like, or don't post at all,,,.,.no one is demanding anyone do anything here.
pampango
(24,692 posts)Did you just pick random candidates' names for the poll or was there some criteria that is not apparent? In terms of polling and popularity the latter two certainly top the earlier ones.
yuiyoshida
(45,181 posts)do YOU KNOW THERE ARE 10 spaces in EVERY DU poll? IF not, NOW YOU KNOW. As for who is in the race, I checked here: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/us/politics/2020-presidential-candidates.html
pampango
(24,692 posts)your list of 10 while Delaney and Gabbard did? If it was just a crazy random occurrence that cannot be edited, I understand that.
yuiyoshida
(45,181 posts)I am curious where people are. THIS is not an Official Democratic Underground poll, I am not a CO-Owner of DU... I have NO INFLUENCE on who people chose... THERE are 10 SPACES AND I filled them. I Said that if people want to chose a candidate they can mark the poll or PUT their favorite in their own posts. IF there is NOT enough spaces, blame DU, not me..there are only TEN choices given to a poll. Chose someone, or write them in, or don't vote at all... its up to you.

(5,112 posts)Joe Biden - 36%
Bernie Sanders - 14%
Kamala Harris - 13%
Cory Booker - 10%
Elizabeth Warren - 9%
Beto ORourke - 8%
Eric Holder - 2%
Sherrod Brown - 2%
Amy Klobuchar - 1%
Michael Bloomberg - 1%
It's not really an objective poll if you leave off the 2nd and 6th highest polling candidates in favor of candidates like John Delaney and Tulsi Gabbard who barely even register in the polls.

(5,112 posts)You shouldn't take it personally.
And I'm not starting a poll because I like all of the candidates, refuse to pick between them and think a year before the primaries and twenty months before the general election is *waaaay* too early for me to be invested one way or the other.
My answer to your original question is "Ask me in December - in the meantime I'm still focused on the Russia investigation and all the congressional inquiries".

(14,565 posts)Our primary debates need to be loaded with related questions and how to counter the fear that Trump and Republicans are desperate to attach. I watched a mini test run here in Florida, with Gillum and Nelson both labeled as socialist.
Obviously it's a more complicated situation with Sanders on the debate stage. But maybe he'll provide the best lines of all, even if others end up using them later.
Coming out of the 2014 midterms it was equally obvious that white non-college educated males were angry and shifting away from us. I bookmarked 5 or 6 links immediately. That's how ominous it was. We chose to all but ignore it.

(59,927 posts)And probably won't be on the ballot next year, either.
Depending on who DOES get the nomination, I will probably be fine with the selection, especially if Trump is again their nominee--something I give a 50-50 chance at best.

(59,927 posts)I have no unrealistic expectations. One is a friend I know is not in the slightest interested, and the other hasn't given any hint of feeling any different. So, I'll just make this a spectator sport for now. Since no one I know is in the race, I have no personal knowledge of any of the so-far declared candidates, and I prefer to get some before saying which one I prefer.

If it were possible I would list everyone, and their grandmothers too...but I can't, and I am not pushing anyone on anybody.. just curious where people are at this early point. Thanks for your comment

(3,153 posts)I picked Elizabeth Warren because I got to vote for her when I was living in Massachusetts back in 2012. I really like Kamala Harris too! The hardest part for me is trying to figure out who is the best person to take Trump on during the 'debates' once we get past the primaries. Watching Trump during the debates in 2016 reminded me of an old Second City skit where they parodied the Lincoln-Douglas debates and it devolved into one of them telling the other that their mother wore army boots. Trump is so absurd. Most all of these candidates give me a glimpse of hope for the future.
PS - I love your gif of the woman with the sword!

(2 posts)Really? You're not going to add Bernie Sanders to the list? The candidate who almost beat Hillary Clinton in the last primary and who has out-raised all the other candidates combined in the first 24 hours of his announcement? Ignoring him not only appears intentionally biased, it renders your "polls" irrelevant.

(58,785 posts)Imo, refusing to accept Sanders' political ideology and identity and acting as if he doesn't mean it is very insulting to him.
