https://gizmodo.com/facebook-is-an-innovator-in-privacy-says-guy-who-runs-1832773836Thinking about Facebook as an innovator in privacy is certainly not the mainstream view, Zuckerberg said during the taped conversation, which was released publicly on Wednesday. But going back to the very first thing that we did, making it so Harvard students could communicate in a way that they had some confidence that their content and information would be shared with only people within that community, there was no way that people had to communicate stuff at that scale but not have it either be just completely public or just as small as it had been before.
FYI:
* Facebook was sharing private user-information with hundreds of corporations, among them Cambridge Analytica.
* Facebook shared this information no matter what your privacy-settings were.
* In fact, Facebook shared this info with SO MANY other corporations that Facebook lost track of what they were sharing with whom. Some corporations were allowed to gobble up info after their contract with Facebook had expired, because Facebook forgot to check.
* Even if you don't have a Facebook-account, if you have ever visited Facebook, Facebook has a file on you, listing what you looked at while visiting Facebook and from which IP-address you came. They are just waiting for more info to finally put a name on that file.

(59,521 posts)1. No. "Facebook is an innovator in PIRACY" maybe, but not privacy. No one should still be
using Facebook after what they did to our country.
