(25,965 posts)On another level, a rec can indicate other things, including relevance, urgency, appreciation, sentimentality, but at the heart of it, it's to increase the likelihood that others see it.
In the past, I would hesitate before reccing an OP about, for example, nazi atrocities, out of concern that my rec would be seen as approval. Then I decided, fuck it, and recced with abandon, figuring that exposure was more important than potential misinterpretation.
