We hope to have power all through this.
By Alli Davis / World-Herald staff writer Feb 23, 2019 Updated 1 hr ago
The Omaha area snowfall that could reach up to 12 inches is spreading throughout the metro area, and officials warn that heavy snow and strong winds could cause power outages.
National Weather Service meteorologist Scott Dergan said he had a report of two inches of snow in just an hour and a half in Wahoo. "The transition is happening," he said of rain and sleet turning to snow.
"Elkhorn is all snow. Valley is all snow. The transition is happening from west to east fairly steadily."
Dergan said it won't be much longer before snow is falling up to three inches an hour throughout Omaha and Lincoln and wind gusts are blowing as high as 50 miles an hour.
