Republicans are willing to overlook Trump's high crimes and misdemeanors because ...

...of all of his great achievements.

Huh?

Yeah, like the huge taxcut that went mostly to the very top. It wasn't a great achievement - it was a bait and switch. Taxpayers, looking for their annual refunds, are finally seeing it for the scam that it is.

Or like all the regulations he has taken off corporations and big business. Regulations that made our air and water more dirty and gave away the people's lands for exploration and exploitation. Some great achievement!

Or like the great economy, with low unemployment and the stock market booming. They took a good economy and opened the door wide open for laissez faire economics. At the same time, they created trillion dollar deficits for as far as the eye can see and promised cuts to peoples' programs that were in place to make our society better. This is no great accomplishment.

When they speak of all the great things that Trump has done, it pays to look just a little closer. As usual, they are as fake as an Earl Scheib paint job. It doesn't last long in the elements.

They don't care who is on the ticket. They'll vote for ANY Republican and support ANY Republican.

There is no nuance. Literally the only qualification that these crazy people have, is that he have an R by their name. Nuts.

They overlook everything because they have to.

they're in on it.

No way he could have made it to the White House or remained as long as he has if they were not complicit

If Barack Obama's campaign had 1100 contacts and meetings with the Russians during his campaign, had Russian hackers help his campaign with polling data Obama's campaign manager gave to the Russians and had Russian money pour into Planned Parenthood to be dispersed to Democrats and/or a coordinated media campaign, how many think they wouldn't have impeached their Muslim from Kenya within a few days of finding out? Rhetorical question.

Demographics are working against the conservatives. They are quite willing to steal elections, gerrymander, commit political assassination and cosy up to dictatorships if it lets them keep their hold on power. Problem is that even with that, the GOP as it is constituted now will die within a decade, simply because most of their constituency will die. It's one reason that you hear "the US is not a Democracy, it's a Republic" from those on the right so often nowadays. At some level, most recognize that they do not actually have a majority in this country, and that the only way that they will continue in power is to cheat. Trump is the cheater-in-chief. They've staked their political survival on someone who has managed to survive for decades by cheating others, not realizing that what they have is a man well past his prime, facing considerable mental deterioration and battling being hopelessly compromised.

And all of their own high crimes and misdemeanors have been compiled and leveraged by the Russians through their asset in Washington, DC, Donald J Trump.

i think they figure if they stick together like glue, it will discourage talk of impeachment. and it does. they have convinced a lot of people that it is a fools errand.

in truth, i believe, they all know eventually they will have to. and i suspect they know that no matter how they vote, the whole ship is going down, and they will go with it.
i suspect there are enough of them that care about having to wear that vote the rest of their lives, and that it will be one of the lines in their obits.
they have a choice- had the courage to stand up, or laid down for a would be dictator.
either way they know their party will spend a generation in the wilderness. sooner or later many will try to save their own reputations.

it's more childish than that: it's a "nanny nanny boo boo" level of discourse.

If they can make Democrats mad, then they think they won by default.

I don't think there is an inch of government that has been spared a whack of the wrecking ball. I wonder what is left inside all the various agencies, presided over by grown-up, anti-government trust-fund kids.. How will they divvy up the loot? Like Putin, and other dictator regimes, with shell companies?

And when I say "in", I mean all in, like last call at casino night. Want proof?

- Russian and Saudi nationals have been staying at Trump hotels in droves.

- RT is operating on American soil and they preach a pro Trump agenda.

- American Republican politicians have been traveling an awful lot to Moscow lately.

There's no collusion he says? There is collusion and it's happening all around. This is a real life conspiracy, and it's a lot more believable than a sex ring operating out of the basement of a pizza parlor.
