But, yes, ick. I was thinking it would be a Spike Lee joint that won. I was hoping it would be Roma that won best picture, but I knew better for a variety of reasons (primarily that it was a pretty slow moving film--which I loved).

Either that or The Favourite.

As to The Favourite, it’s one of these movies:

Studio: “We want you to make us a movie.”
Producer: “And what do you want this movie to do.?”
Studio: “We want it to win about a dozen Oscars.”
Producer: “Then let’s make a costume piece about British Royalty. Those always win lots of Oscars.”
Studio: “Great! Here’s the combination to the room we keep all the money in. Use whatever you want.”

However, I was really glad Bao won. That is a really nice short.
