No worries, stiff winds(60 mph) didn't upend region's eagles (pgh,pa)

Pittsburgh eagle watchers flocked to their computers earlier this week and were relieved to find that no news was good news.

Wind gusting up to 60 mph whipped the region Sunday and into Monday, but two bald eagles and three eggs nested in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Hays rode out the storm without incident.

“While the nest did sway, as shown on the live-stream nest cam, the eagles remained on the nest, incubating the eggs,” said Rachel Handel, spokeswoman for the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania. “Their behavior did not change due to the weather — they switched places so that both the male and female had time incubating the eggs.”

The hardy parents even brought food into the nest during the storm, she said.
