(6,007 posts)No one wants to be the first one to hold him to the law, to charge him. Who's going to step up and arrest him? No one has the nerve. It is unthinkable to them to be able to do that.

(28,340 posts)be willing to override the current policy of abstaining from indictment. The SCOTUS has not weighed in on the subject, so it's just a policy exercise/question at this point.

(521 posts)It may well be possible to indict a sitting president but do we want an indicted president to continue to sit in the White House, running things and pushing buttons?
It seems to me that impeachment serves much the same purpose and is more immediately remedial - it removes an unworthy president from power and it functions at a speed partly controlled by the Congress.
