No Deal: Trump Abruptly Left North Korea Summit Without Nuclear Agreement

By DEB RIECHMANN and JILL COLVIN
February 28, 2019 6:59 am

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) — The table was set, with flowers in vases and menus tucked inside white napkins. Water glasses were filled. Wicker fans provided a cool breeze.

But nobody came.

“Schedule change,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders announced.

That was the first indication something was up at President Donald Trump’s two-day summit with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

But what did it mean for the prospects of denuclearizing?

Reporters and photographers assembled to record the leaders’ lunchtime chitchat were hustled out of the room and eventually from building in anticipation of Trump’s departure.

That is all it was at taxpayer expense. Think about it. Do you think all those stage props would show up in any other country in the region.

He's done this before...big fanfare about him going, then turns around and heads back earlier than scheduled.
trump is good at managing tv coverage.
My take is he scheduled the trip on same day as Cohen testimony in hopes tv would play down the hearing.

I really like that the news is covering his trip as a huge failure to achieve goals. Heh heh.

This was to be the Corner stone of Trump's Campaign Foreign Policy Winning talking points.

Ah,the truth will emerge in a few days.

It sounded like Trump was ready to concede North Korea not denuclearizing.

There was the Cohen testimony. Maybe wories that Trump won’t be around? Not only that his official deal may not survive but whatever under the table stuff like Trump tower Pyongyang?

There was the clown picture where Trump is sitting in a chair 3 sizes too small. Did someone in his team help set that up or maybe just rub his face in it to scuttle the acceptance of NK nukes?

Then there was the appearance of Lavrov. Trump was blabbing about how NK was in the center of Russia, China and South Korea. Was there some deal being set up that Lavrov came to quash? Russia may not like the idea of a nuclearized NK.

Or it could just be that the meeting preparation was botched so badly that there was no possibe good press that could come of it? That coupled with all the other negative news like Cohen.

If we survive it will be interesting to find out what really happened.
