It is nearly unthinkable that rape is so common that women are taking birth control solely to prevent becoming pregnant as a result of rape as they flee situations that are worse at home - but they are.

Yes Trump described the phenomenon in his own illiterate fashion - AND - he is reaching conclusions that are 180 degrees from where he ought to be (this level of violence against women is more reason to grant asylum, not less). But the reality is that the situation for women is at least twice as bad as he describes. Yet all I've seen on DU in response, in two threads, is a ridicule that suggests people believe he is esaggerating - when (for once) they are an understatement.
