Hey MSNBC

You might remind the GOP apologists that the Democrats didn't schedule the Cohen hearing to coincide with the Korean summit. They rescheduled after Trump threatened Cohen's family and Cohen refuse his initial testimony date. That done they couldn't take a chance of losing the opportunity for a public hearing knowing that at any moment Trump might again release an illegal public threat to the witness. That Trump didn't like the optics he caused is just tough shit.

except, remarkably enough, Chuck “it’s not MY job to fact-check” Todd.

When Michael Cohen was asked during last Wednesday’s hearing about collusion and said he didn’t see any, that’s ALWAYS where they leave it. Whenever they bring that up, they always stop there, thus stopping short on the whole quote. They consistently avoid QUOTING HIM ALL THE WSY TO THE END OF HIS ANSWER! And what was the last part of his answer (that they seldom bother to add)? The phrase “...but I have my suspicions.”

We all need to keep that in mind.

And it makes me wonder if somebody in upper management sent a memo around, directing the on-air staff to do it that way.

I finally did that over the weekend.

Ali Velshi, on Friday 3/1, came back in after a commercial break saying “... the 2020 Democrat contenders... “

Okay. THAT did it. E-FUCKING-NUFF!!!! I had officially HAD IT.

So I looked through the free greeting cards I occasionally get in the mail from various environmental groups to which I’ve made donations. There are small collections of cards and envelopes that include birthday cards, get well cards, and “thinking of you” cards; sometimes all-purpose blank cards with nature scenes on the front, in which you can write your own greetings.

I picked one with red-white-and-blue hot air balloons and “America” in big letters along the top. I wrote in, under the “America” - “wants YOU...”

Then, opening the card, I wrote “... to get the name of our party right! It’s DEMOCRATIC Party.” I added the date, time, and direct quote of the offense. And I signed off with a “thank you,” and “a loyal viewer”, adding my name. Sent it off first thing Saturday morning. So I’m guessing it arrives at 30 Rock in NYC in today’s mail. It’ll be the one with “Personal, please” added on the front.

Sometimes, adding “Personal, please” or “Personal and Confidential” can make it more certain that it’ll actually get to the actual addressee.

And now, I’ll be watching to see if he’ll correct his mistake.

The evening shows beginning with Chris Hayes and onward are much more outspoken (until the 11t5h Hour). That's why MSNBC has been gaining and surpassing Fox News in the evening for quite some time (though that might have slipped a bit since the midterms). I think the reason those shows on MSNBC's daytime lineup are deliberately more conservative, i.e., wearing kid gloves with rethug talking points, is because Fox reins during the daytime on cable news networks.

Reason the ratings are up is because of a more forceful voice.
People want a choice! They are beginning to learn that there is a difference in coverage and explanations.
I think the only reason there is any mediocre coverage at all is because of the guy (whose name I don’t remember) who is a conservative jerk and who controls most of the programming. As soon as he realizes that he can get better ratings and more money by pushing a more liberal product,
MSNBC should power upward spectacularly.

to manipulate weak minds. Without an audience, they wise up. You can deny them their power by not watching. Or, you can show them what you will tolerate and what you will not. For instance, watch only Rachel and Lawrence (maybe Wallace and Williams). Show them that you wil only tolerate those moments that provide the most truth and the staunchest opinions of the news and what it means to us as citizens.

Personally, I have forgone all corporate news except excerpts here and there on the Internet. I don't go to their websites, either. I need your help in denying them their attempts to control the message. We all know this is what they do and when we come to DU to report on what they are saying, we're preaching mostly to the choir.

Also, in the process of denying them their audience, you're also decreasing your stress levels, which is healthier for you. I have been on a 1yr+ personal program to try to reduce as much stress and drama in my life as I possibly can. Yes, yes, I know I've been grumpy a couple of times already since joining DU, but tRump and his henchmen, seemingly able to continue their destruction of our nation unabated, is extremely stressful for me. I'm working on that, but sometimes the best way to reduce this stress is to scream bloody murder here with people who get it. I apologize for this personal quirk of mine. But less stress can work wonders. I don't know if my program has contributed to this, but I had very severe plaque psoriasis on both my shins (as well as much less severe instances elsewhere - for 10 years. Knock on wood...it's 95% in recession now. I have no idea of stress-reduction has anything to do with, but I like thinking it did and that thinking only reinforces my commitment to manage stress. And, despite my success so far, I have a long way to go.

So, no corporate news manipulation and aggrivation and frustration for me, thanks.

these days, and I feel that depression levels among the tattered masses is at an all time high. I wonder daily which SHTF will occur and where. I am so sick of the "faux victorian governing principles" and replete civility that make up our current system. The self-proclaimed "big, beautiful economy" has left me behind at age 60, and I have lost interest in rabid commercial greed and consumerism that is today's media frankly. I find myself more worried about survival and quality of daily life more often now. Sad to say but my American dream is over because the 1% had to have it all, and so many stupid people agreed with them I guess. The depression can only begin to heal once the corruption is gone.

My days are so much better now that I don't consume that garbage and feel the outrage that wells up by the very hearing and seeing of it.

It seems like the entire nation is in a funk. I know because I've been around the last year, as part of my stress-relief program. I wish everyone could do what I was able to do, which is that I let my apartment lease go (paid for that, too) after working the November midterms as a PC, and I packed my hybrid Optima with only those things that I truly needed, and nothing else. And I drove away. I traveled the southern half of the country, with a brief excursion to NYC to see the Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time in person.

I saw family. I made friends. I reunited with friends, new and old. I sought out beauty and beautiful places. I visited old haunts and (since we moved often when I was a kid) towns where I had lived in the past. I explored and I rested, all the along the way. I took pictures of flowers, animals, and vistas. Something about the ocean calms me and I love hanging out on piers, so there was plenty of that from New Jersey to Maryland to Virginia to North and South Carolina to Florida and all the way to Santa Monica and its famous pier. I camped out all along the way, from the Eastern Shore to the Arizona desert, where I met up with lots of friends for two weeks of camping, cooking, partying, and celebrating life. I listened only to music, no talk radio.

And, nowhere along the way was I exposed to anyone who wanted to talk about politics. Indeed, it was as if everyone was avoiding any such discussion as if it were The Plague. Thankfully! Still, it felt as if there was a definite funk, compared to past travels, which weren't nearly as extensive but which had the nation feeling much more vibrant. Thank you, President Obama!

Now I'm back home in DFW, more to meet some pressing work responsibilities and to plan my next adventure, which will be to get back into my car and begin my tour of the northern tier of states, beginning in late May at Reno/Lake Tahoe, after a camping stop to hang with friends in Colorado. I will explore northern CA then up through Oregon and Washington, Montana, all the way across in time to see the fall colors in Vermont.

I wish everyone could do what I've been doing and what I have planned. It's a great way to get away from the constant outrage and feeling of desperation and helplessness that comes from the manipulation of the media and, more specifically, corporate news manipulation and obfuscation.

Maybe, but look at the response. I come here for exactly the posts that give people new areas to critique both republicans and the media when they mindlessly allow GOP propaganda. And while the choir is here, I'm fairly certain that both choirmasters (influential democrats) and even those who hate this music (you KNOW who) stop by and scan the highest recommended posts. If anything I write forwards a democratic cause, then here is where it will be advanced or fade away.

R’s still get away with that statement, and always site that Obama lied about health care, that you could keep your doctor. A lie requires intent to deceive, knowledge that what you’re saying is not true. One is mistaken if something you believe turns out not to be true. Obama was mistaken about keeping your doc but he did not lie. They never correct that misstatement by Republican spokespeople.
