In a video uploaded to YouTube yesterday by far-right Canadian outlet Rebel Media, Schlichter argues that if socialists are able to gain power, they will subject the public to a low quality of life while enjoying the best society has to offer. During that rant, Schlichter claimed that socialists want to take away peoples hamburgers and replace them with vegan fooda talking point percolating throughout the right; Ocasio-Cortezs calls for the factory farming industry to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions have been misconstrued by right-wing figures from Schlichter to President Trump to falsely allege that she wants to deprive Americans of their sweet, sweet hamburgers.
You know, when they talk about universal healthcare, the healthcare for you is going to be a long line at a doctor, seven-month wait to get somebody to look at your ingrown toenail. But for the socialiststhe people in chargetheir medical care will be just fine. There will be no expense spared, Schlichter said.
He continued, They will fly on jets. You will not. They will have cars. You wont. They will eat hamburgers. You will eat some sort of vegan nightmare food.

(107,992 posts)Let them eat all the fried food they want. We will outlast them, then.
For the record, I like fried food and red meat once in a while. I know simply that I have to restrict how often I eat that stuff and my portion size.

(12,590 posts)that there aren't already long waits to get treated in our current non-system. Not to mention, we have rationing based on ability to pay ... how long will you have to wait to get cancer treatment if you can't afford it -- forever, as you'll never get the treatment. Rep. Jayapal's bill can save lives.

(107,992 posts)Two months!!!! And for a doctor who I've already had a relationship with and has performed surgery on me. No, I don't want to wait to two months. It's madness. It needs to end now.

(25,246 posts)When will they quit slandering Democrats and other decent people, hiding behind the 1st Amendment's freedom of speech clause? When we fight back and confront them with their over-the-top lies!
We cannot ignore the far right anymore because they will come after us -- with impunity -- just because of who we are if we don't fight back. Forget about the moral high ground; they're provoking a civil war.

(3,750 posts)are living it. The rhetoric is getting more and more insane and heated. We underestimate the hate and the ignorance at our peril. Be prepared. It will get much worse between now and the next election.....if there is a fair one. My opinion and I pray that I am totally wrong.

(1,648 posts)Years ago I would go to the family doctor to have everything done and there were no extended wait times. Now, if you have any minor thing wrong with you, you have to go to your "Primary" doctor, but that doctor cannot do anything about it and you must go to "Specialists" who like to launch a battery of tests for billing purposes before they will even address the simplest thing. All of it amounts to medical care RATIONING and WAIT TIMES for several months.
My family doctor would give simple Cortisone injections in the 90s, but 'computer screen reader' Primary and Specialist doctors today insist on calling it SURGERY... I actually asked a "specialist" once if he was serious and he got irritated at the question. Ingrown toenail?.. Family doctor just cut it out years ago, but fucking major surgery to a computer screen reader doctor that takes months of planning (waiting - gee, I hope that I don't get gangrene) to possibly resolve... Or do the easiest thing and just cut it out yourself if you can take the pain.
And the only reason for all of the bullshit is that dumb fuck wants Vulture Capitalism to keep imploding everything.

(15,139 posts)elderly mother recently when a man came in with his finger wrapped in a bandage. He had a bad cut. Was told the four doctors on staff weren't equipped to handle a cut and he should either go to an ER or an Urgent Care. He was incredulous.
When did "family" doctors stop being hands on? Today, after a lengthy wait for an appointment, all a patient gets is asked a bunch of questions while the doc types into a keyboard. Can only imagine how many emergency hospital visits result from the practice of this type of (non) medicine.

(25,406 posts)there was that Super Bowl commercial that compared a vegan dinner party to the experience of buying a car. You don't spend that kind of money making a joke without first testing it on focus groups.
