This is an example of rich white guy justice - what you would expect of a Reagan judge.

If you dispense rich white guy justice, white collar crime by a rich white guy just isn't that serious. it really doesn't matter how much money be bilked from the poor people who pay their taxes. But, if you dispense rich white guy justice, a poor person or a person of color convicted of any crime, is a danger to society that must be sent up-the-river for as long as the law will allow.

It is all very disappointing. It is very hard to continue to hope that justice will ever be truly blind.

It'll be a repeat of today's disgrace.

It's totally obvious the fix is in.

Born in Bogota, Colombia. Immigrant. How did he arrive here? Legally?

None of that really matters to me since everyone who arrived here after 1492 is an illegal immigrant, IMO, but I point out his Latin American birth to say that today, in fuckhead trump's "America" - "judge" ellis wouldn't even be able to make it across our southern border.

If you have the stomach for it, visit Scott Hechinger's Twitter page at https://twitter.com/ScottHech where he cites one case after another pointing out very serious inequality in our system of justice.

There's two systems of Justice in the US of A. One for the White Elite and the other for regular people. As long as Americans continue to vote for politicians backed by Corporate Lobbyists it will only get worse. We can beat these bastards at their own game. Vote for a Progressive like Bernie. He wants to clean up America. Wall Street, Corporate America and the Billionaire Class is ruining America. ENOUGH! BTW the following article was written before Trump became president. He's just making everything worse.

I think if you want to promote Bernie the DU forum rules say you can go to the Democratic Primaries forum. General formation about candidates is OK here but nothing that can create arguments. Although it’s OK to post the Atlantic article in General Discussion. You can also choose the avatar of your chosen candidate and it will show up only in that forum.
