I wished my male boss a happy international women's day and he looked at me puzzled until I explained he raised 3 awesome (grown with their own kids) daughters and they didn't get that way themselves. He got tears in his eyes (he'll tell anyone what a sap he is).

16. My sister had a good IWD anecdote, but she's gone now, so I have to tell it.

She was part of the govt. group that negotiated telecom treaties, and all kinds of related work. Her job made her travel all over the place (50 times to Geneva alone, where the UN mission that oversaw the process had its HQ)

While there were literally hundreds of people at these events, she got to know some of them well, in as much as colleagues from another country can be known. As it happened, IWD was also her birthday.

She was having breakfast with 2 or 3 of the people she knew, and along comes a ranking official from the Russian delegation.

"Happy IWD, ladies," he said, then quickly followed it up with a smile for my sister and "And Happy Birthday to you, Ms D."

She was taken aback by that, because...how could he know that? WHich is what she asked him.

He leaned in closer, dropped his voice, smiled a wriy smile with his index finger against his nose.

"Russian Intelligence," he said quietly, and walked away.

So...Happy International Women's Day!

36. My wife went from moving her chair for bathroom door to open to executive VP of a Construction Co.

Put up with daily bs, told she was taking advantage of them for not training new man to be her boss getting paid more, he didn't last long, subcontractor wanted to talk to someone in charge not another secretary, her reply "If you want your contract signed you talk to me". Her warnings were ignored and was no longer allowed to attend meetings with bonding company. Last straw. They went under in a few years. Worked her ass off for Obama and the ACA. Diabetic son made us very aware of insurance co shenanigans. ACA started a few months after her cancer diagnosis and losing heath care was something she didn't have to worry about. She was a superhero and I miss her every day.

40. Yea time for we men to step aside, we f'ed everything up pretty good. However, I find it fascinating

how many middle aged white women hate Hillary and voted for Trump. Women are brutal judges of other women. My wife, who despises Trump and votes Dem, won’t give another woman like Hillary a break saying “ “she shiuldnt have had the server becuase as a woman she knew the scrutiny would be intense”. Or now with Warren, “ she handled the DNA thing wrong and writes her off”, “AOC is to brash and in your face”, “Michelle Obama shouldn’t have said that about being proud for the first time”. As a trial attorney, when selecting a jury I have to be constantly worried about selecting women jurors especially when my client is a woman and accused of committing a crime.
