helped take down Elliot Spitzer. Trevor Noah just mentioned it on TDS. Funny how he can stand by a man who cheats on all his wives, pays off various women for their silence, and brags about sexually assaulting women but sex with a prostitute is just a bridge too far for his sensibilities. Not defending Spitzer but the hypocrisy is amazing.

(55,394 posts)Once Spitzer was elected governor, a group of Republican-aligned power brokers went after him, tailing him with private detectives. They eventually caught him associating with a prostitute, a scandal that forced Spitzer to resign.
In the thick of this effort was Stone, who may well have been tipped off by one of his own prostitute friends. Stone is a notorious swinger and philanderer who has bragged about the high-class escorts he knew. In a well-crafted documentary on the subject, Client 9, Stone winks at the role he might have played in Spitzers fall from grace.
As the scandal was breaking, a phone call was made to Spitzers fathers house, threatening to bring his whole family down. The phone message was made public and the call was eventually traced to a telephone. It was Stones.

(7 posts)Pro-choice activists are gathering around the country today to mark the National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers. In Albany, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is addressing the Family Planning Advocates of New York State. Shortly after taking office last year, Spitzer introduced a bill that would declare abortion a fundamental right for women. The bill would also ensure abortion remains legal in New York should the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade. [includes rush transcript]
