Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Confirmation Hearing

The Senate Judiciary Committee holds a confirmation hearing for two of President Trump’s nominees to serve as judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit.

Seven of the current 9th circuit judges were appointed by President Obama (nine by Clinton and five by Bush). Trump already has three picks sitting on that bench... the two under consideration now... and there are three other open slots for him to fill.

A high proportion of those eight slots were held open prior to Trump taking office. I'm aware of only one judge taking senior status over the last two years.

And all nine remaining Clinton picks are between 65-75 years old. If he somehow gets a second term... the "liberal" 9th Circuit could easily end up with a majority of republican-appointed judges.
