1. Good move, NZ.

They need to clamp down harder than Australia.

2. I love that they can move so quickly

Unlike us where we are held hostage to gun owners.

It's sad that Obama didn't have this power. If he did most of this gun problem would be behind us by now.

3. They weren't already banned?

I guess I'm confusing NZ and Australia. All the gun-humpers on social media were screaming "SEE A WEAPONS BAN WON'T DO ANY GOOD!"

Man, just a simple announcement and it's done. How refreshing.

7. NZ is a democracy with a parliament.

Man, just a simple announcement and it's done. How refreshing.

It's not done. Neither the Attorney General nor the Prime Minister of New Zealand rules by fiat. What he is announcing is the intention to seek a ban.

4. Earlier I wondered if they maybe

followed Australia's lead after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 which made a big difference there but apparently they didn't.

5. I think NZ is going to clamp down harder than Australia.

You can own a semi-automatic pistol in Australia. Itís damn difficult get the H license, though. I think NZ is going to go for a complete ban.

9. They're manufactured for one reason only...

(other than massive profits for the manufacturer) and that's to kill as many "targets" in the shortest amount of time possible. There is absolutely no good reason for civilians to have access to weapons of this type. None!
