So, my 64k question is...How do we get people to vote?

I'm tired of the talking heads, pols, writers, etc blabbering about the Democrats running for president need to be this or need to be that.

The real problem.
The only problem.
The answer to the problem.

People need to vote. Period.

The GOP has been brilliant at suppressing the vote.

We have to be better than brilliant at getting out the vote.

What's the answer?

that your vote doesn't matter. The cheapest, easiest way to disenfranchise people is convince them it doesn't matter if they vote, that elections are rigged, that it's impossible to overcome a gerrymandered district, that no one else is going to vote so they shouldn't either, blah, blah, blah.

Canvass. Go to their house, knock on their door, ask them politely and pleasantly to vote, make sure they know where to vote, give them candy. We called the candy part reverse trick or treating. People liked it. M&Ms and Skittles very popular.

You can talk about patriotism and civic duty all you want, but the reason people don't vote, is because they think that it's futile. They feel disenfranchised. If you can show them how it's in their personal favor to vote for candidate X, they will do so. But you have to make them see how it will directly benefit them.

I always tell people that I'm very selfish, so I vote in my economic best interest. That would happen to be the Democratic candidate (because I'm not a billionaire).

Numbers of voters in 2020 be increased dramatically.

People need to learn and be coached into owning that they will join the permanent base of loyal voters, each and every election.

The GOP knows how to get their voters out.

And fix the winner-take-all electoral vote rules in almost every state.

More people will vote if they know their votes will matter.

In Texas, my vote in a presidential election hasn’t mattered since 1992.

Oops, I take that back. Hasn’t mattered since 1976.
