Trump is doubling down on his bet that a strong economy is a key factor in his reelection effort next year.
The White House has held a series of events and interviews for Trump this week that are intended to show off his record.
The president met Thursday with CEOs at the Business Roundtable, one day after he extolled his dealmaking prowess to a group of workers at a factory in Lima, Ohio. He also sat down for an interview with Fox Business Networks Maria Bartiromo.
Trump hasnt been able to completely stay on message. In Lima, he blasted the deceased Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), detracting from the economic message his administration has clearly sought to lay out during a week where the Congress is on recess.

(1,584 posts)Just understand what was demonstrated during the furlough. Most working families could not withsatnd two missing paychecks and some people lost homes, and ruined their credit rating. That's not sustainable, especially in light of recent environmental hazzards. Soon insurers will be bailing out, banks will be forclosing. Once workers begin the inevitable selling off of stock to make ends meet, only the wealthy will be able to survive until the consumer bubble that sustains them bursts also. But they, as Trump has demonstrated, you can default for billions...just don't miss a mortgage payment on your $200,000 home.

(9,150 posts)even though his tariffs, tax cuts and ballooning deficits are reckless, and now he wants to make savage cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. I don't see much in the way of outspoken opposition. There is no strategy to defeat Trump's lies and spin. None at all.
