when kids can die in a mass shooting just about anywhere: school, concert, church/mosque, movies, etc. School shootings were much more rare when I was a teen.
And contrary to Trump supporter memes, nobody brought a gun rack with guns in it to school back then. They might have a gun rack on their truck, but it would be empty.
