and Rosenstein, we have Speaker Pelosi. I would not bet against her! We'll win this thing I predict. It ain't over til the speaker lady sings.

(979 posts)Thank God we didn't let the republicans control the narrative on Pelosi. They are totally sacred of her and with good reason.

(32,725 posts)Don't forget, they all gave a "loyalty" oath before they got their jobs. Mueller wasn't appointed by Chump anyway, so he didn't have to do that. Something will need to be done about the tainted judicial appointees too.

(18,130 posts)He was part of it from the beginning. He's the one who wrote the letter giving Trump an excuse to fire Comey. He was complicit.

(17,988 posts)The irony of this is that Comey played good dog attacking Hillary after he could not indict her, but Trump fired Comey any way!

(3,290 posts)signed off on the letter. A tough spot for Rosenstein to be in but it comes with the territory I guess. Maybe he will get a chance to testify before congress and tell his story.
Like everything else in this wretched administration it is a big multi layered mess. You just don't know whom to trust which adds to the frustration of following this.

I think Mueller left the DoJ office early because he saw this coming and didn't want any part of it. He'll be testifying by next week. Sounds like Barr will be getting a subpoena too. And maybe Rosenstien refused to sign the letter but stayed to witness the event. Both Mueller and Rosenstien have a lot invested in this investigation, I think we'll be hearing from them om the Hill soon.

(37,648 posts)Rosenstein wouldn't have signed the letter because the summary letter is required by law to be from the AG to Congress.

I suspect that Mueller and Rosentein will be telling it like it is when they go before Congress. It seems to be the only place to get at the truth lately.

(905 posts)You must have missed the footage of Rosenstein at one of the Kavanaughty hearings when, after the hearing was over, he rushed to be one of the first to clap Kavanaugh on the back and clearly mouth the words, "Good job, good job!"
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)Rosenstein didn't get a vote. But even if he had, he and Kavanaugh were working colleagues going back decades. They were maybe even friends. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/10/01/kavanaugh-fbi-wray-rosenstein-220810
Rosenstein seems to be an ethical establishment Republican. My opinion. Also...let's not forget that when Comey was fired, Rosenstein was ready to go and immediately appointed Mueller as Special Counsel. So he was prepared.
And he hasn't interfered with the Mueller investigation or made public statements supporting Trump against it. He's played it like a straight arrow government man.

(6,994 posts)I think what we will hear tomorrow morning (it's in the corporate script) "Are Democrats overreaching" now that Barr has submitted the summary?
Rosenstein, and Barr, and Mueller are Republicans....
Ken Star was/is a Republican he was going to dig and follow any hint of a lead of any actions Bill Clinton had with White Water and he could never find any illegal activity...This was way beyond the scope of Star's authority so now with Mueller every one is saying that so and so actions is not within the scope of his authority..The media is now pushing that but they sure as hell were silent back in 98'

Republicans don't give a shit about playing by the rules, we need a Daniel Ellsberg to release the Mueller report otherwise this will get buried for years in the Nazi courts.

The smoke is there, and this will have legs of its own. It most likely won't involve impeachment, but it will involve serious doubt in the minds of many, especially independents, regarding trump and the republicans. That along with the Trade Wars, the unravelling of the economy, along with major programs that hurt a lot of people, and how we have become the laughing stock of the world I think will have an impact in 2020 against them
When the middle class looks at their bottom line, and finds out they are much worse off now then before, this will have blowback
