The Mueller Report is BAD for Trump. It's the only explanation for his silence this weekend - and -
I defy anyone to tell me with a straight face that Trump's hand-picked AG did not speak with him the entire weekend to map out a spin strategy. It had to be just bad enough to be plausible. That probably required more work than anything. We can be sure Trump wanted the full Ronnie Jackson "medical report" treatment, but Barr and advisors knew full well that wouldn't be believable to anyone, and would backfire.
It took them a weekend to manage the cherry-picking and concoct the proper spin. The reason why they took so little time? a) The truth was neither important, nor an objective. b) They needed to get control of the narrative FIRST. How does that saying go? A lie can run around the globe a dozen times while the truth is still putting on its shoes? The full report will be seen. It is not going to be good for him. One possible upside to all this is that we will be deeper into election season when the inevitable, actual truth is revealed. In the meantime - our Democratic candidate will present the country with a vision of sanity, restored self-respect and hope. Take heart y'all; we got this one! And politely tell those who feel they simply must engage in defeatism to keep that shit to themselves. We've got a job to do. Let's get on with it. ![]()

1. I agree
Marcy Wheeler
In other words, what seems like a formal referral to HJC [House Judiciary Committee], as the constitutionally proper body to determine whether Trump obstructed justice, was instead not referred, but instead short-circuited by a guy who reversed what he said in his confirmation hearing.

25. I don't but any stock in the whole affair. Republicans appointed by Republicans to judge Repubs.
Viola! Not guilty. Like I am supposed to be surprised. I guess they think I just fell off the turnip truck.

2. Barr knew three weeks ago that Mueller was unable to reach a conclusion.
It's the lead story on CNN now.

I wanna hear it from Mueller.
Also ask Mueller whether Barr or Trump is threatening his pension. |

5. Oh I think the report is bad. I don't buy
Barr's summary for one minute. He probably typed that up three weeks ago.

16. True. Several weeks ago it was reported that Barr had not spoken w/Mueller.
At around the time that Barr said a report is coming soon.

4. "unable" can be used in many contexts here, many of them detrimental for Trump
We must hear from Mueller, and we must have the full report. Everything else is spin and bullshit from camp orange.

8. +1 We must stop thinking "Mueller said this or that" just because Barr spins it that way.
None of it means anything at all without Mueller's report and his evidence.

13. I'm glad someone agrees with me on that
I've been telling everyone who will listen that if Russia has something on Trump, they will eventually release it simply for the reason you say. They don't "win" by keeping it a secret. And by the look on Trump's face after the private meeting with Putin at Helsinki, its 100% that he has something.

22. Putin Just Sent Military Forces To Venezuela
And Trump hasn't said a word - so much for the Monroe Doctrine. How soon before he parks nukes down there and has a military base. (And why isn't the media all over this.)

12. thank you Maru
All I saw yesterday was doom and gloom. I look at this as a tool to use not only in 2020 - but this year in NJ (our state elections). Forgive me- but if we could let get the details to ooze out slowly - it can be just enough to suppress and demoralize the Trump voter in 2020.

. . .on this subject matter is in order:
https://www.wnycstudios.org/story/breaking-news-consumers-handbook-mueller-edition Personally, I think this shit will explode in Trump & Co.'s faces when they least expect it. At least that's my hope. Meanwhile, Thanks, Maru. ![]() |

18. That's right...
It's over. And I say thank God we caught all the con men and hucksters that were surrounding Trump.
Now maybe we can all take a few deep knee bends and get back to our lives. All the stuff going on in NY will probably produce nothing as well. I'm glad to hear the POTUS is not a spy, just a moron. And there's no law against that. |

21. I think you are absolutely correct.
This is why Barr's son became one of Trump's attorneys. Phone calls between Barr and any other of Trump's attorneys over this past weekend would have raised a red flag, but calls between a father and son can more easily be explained if questioned. This is why he was put there, IMO. Just part of the plan.
And I agree with the rest of your post as well. Let's pull it together and get to work! Remember THIS: "Yes, we CAN!" |

24. I really don't believe that most of us are feeling defeated about this.....
....quite the contrary, really. Disappointed? Absolutely! However, even with the right's spin on things as we're witnessing at the moment, this can and should be considered as a fairly major setback, one that has clearly resulted in some consequences that the Dems will need to deal with. The right-wing propaganda machine will not stop here, either, for they will attempt to degrade us again and again if we continue to allow them to. If anything, this has bolstered my enthusiasm more than ever.
