He's been running scams his entire legal career apparently except no one really paid attention to him. You can't be on tv everyday AND have firms go bankrupt to avoid liabilities AND blur the line between blackmail and negotiation AND do whatever the hell else it is he does.

for a whole collection of alleged crimes, including theft from clients. The CA allegations are even more serious than the ones in NY, but he's facing prison time in both jurisdictions, not to mention disbarment. Have a look at the NY complaint - it's much worse than just a phone call.

Meanwhile, in California: https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=11955024

He deserves the deep shit he's in, regardless of politics. Some Democrats are bad people, too.

Yeah, I know he is a grifter and a shameless self-promoter, but these acts, if true, were incredibly stupid for an attorney.

He should have known a high-profile company like Nike wouldn't let him get away with extortion.

Several calls, and meetings, audio and video taped, after Nike alerted the feds to Avenatti's extortion threat.

And the timing was entirely dictated by Avenatti, who was about to carry out his threat (which is why he was arrested based on criminal complaint).

for some time, but the past 6 months haven't been very good to him. He keeps doing dumb stuff.
Who knows if he's being railroaded or if he deserves it. I honestly haven't been interested enough to dig, but he sure does seem shady.
