We need to remember that the majority of American voters care about:
1. Their jobs
2. Paying their bills
3. Government doing its job
4. Affordable Healthcare and prescriptions
5. Good schools
6. Paying for college
7. Infrastructure
Most voters don't care about Bob Mueller or Bill Barr.
There was a Big Blue Wave last November because Democrats in Congress promised action on 1 - 7 above.
Sure, everybody wants accountability but if Democrats forget to take care of these "kitchen table" issues then they'll lose in 2020.
Maybe it's time to focus on issues that affect the everyday lives of Americans. Let Trump dig his own holes that he can bury himself in.

(11,804 posts)That said I think we can do both right? I mean both investigate Trumps obvious crimes, and fight for better jobs, and that other stuff.
Hey by Affordable healthcare - do you mean single payer ?
Bryant
Vidal
(642 posts)We can do it all! I'm just hoping the Dems come together and unify to deal with real issues besides Trump corruption, which is important.
Yes I would love single payer. We need Dems to agree on something that really deals with the healthcare crisis.

(90,565 posts)The GOP has had an easy job for the past 30 years: obstruct, dismantle, deny. Or to steal from Nancy Reagan: Just Say No.
Dems have been trying to govern, even when in the minority. Sorry you missed that.
I agree with you. I've missed nothing.
Just expressing concerns that I want another Blue Wave in 2020 and I think dealing with these issues is the way to do that.

(37,748 posts)"and I think dealing with these issues is the way to do that..."
Is anyone arguing otherwise? Are you under the impression that Democrats are not in fact, dealing directly with your line item of concerns? If so, worry no more... they are. Forcefully and with great care. Every day. And as the 2020 election looms closer, they will of course, advertise this fact more and more.
This isn't their first rodeo.

(7,014 posts)never heard Kitchen table issues, Rust belt, Flyover country ever again. Thank You.
Dems do need to build trust in the majority of voters that will deal with problems the average American faces.

(90,565 posts)...despite treason, foreign invasion, New Jim Crow, voter suppression, ethnic cleansing of voter rolls -- and I am sure I missed a few points. Despite all that, she still got 3 million more votes than Trump.
Then, we Americans reiterated that with compound interest in the Blue Wave last year.
Tell me again how Democrats are not connecting somehow.
The people we are not connecting with are racists and misogynists who were sickened by a black president and the prospect of a woman president. We have nothing for them in the Democratic platform or Democratic core principles. We should never have anything for them -- except the good governance due to all citizens.

(82,383 posts)As it is known the the Dotard would never permit it. They were elected as a check on the Dotard.
Most people say that the 2018 midterms were won because of healthcare and similar issues.
And also holding Trump accountable.

(82,383 posts)Had better get out in 2020 as they need that too. The Presidency and the Senate, or none of that will get done.

(16,872 posts)The RETHUGS INSTEAD of the Democrats? I feel the Dems. are doing EXACTLY what needs to be done!
you may be right, but the Dems won the 2018 midterms by dealing with real issues. Americans want stuff done and not more conflict and chaos. So I hope they can unify and come up with good legislation that helps create another Blue Wave in 2020
bluestarone

(8,908 posts)other than their billionaire campaign contributors. Dems are the only hope. They have the House now and should get their legislation on the table regardless of what Rupublicans do. That way the voters can see what is possible with a democrat trifecta in 2020.

(1,750 posts)is OK but not repukes. That's why there is always so much questioning of what will Dems do or not do instead of what will repukes do. How times have you heard repukes asked where there healthcare bills are when sitting on panels?

(642 posts)you are right.
It's been a weird time since Dems took over.
I don't care about Senate right now, just want Pelosi and Dems in House to get the stuff done that will help them in 2020.

(1,565 posts)I totally agree with you.
What do Dems need to do to have another Blue Wave in 2020?
I think dealing with these issues is most important.
I'm hoping for a bigger House majority and winning Senate control and also the presidency.
THEN we can really get some stuff done.
But to get there, I think Nancy and Co. need to pass some really good bills that people love, then send to the Senate so voters can see how Repugs let every good thing die.
That will also help our 2020 pres. candidates.

(90,304 posts)... report being disclosed and some word smithing from Sanders and Trump
at140
(6,110 posts)first, I doubt Barr & Rosenstein have both posted a summary report which is opposite of what the Mueller report contains. Yes, there is probably some damaging information in the report on the issue of obstruction. But again the 2 top officials at DOJ have concluded it does not rise to the level of bringing charges and it highly unlikely DOJ will take action to prosecute. So all a full report disclosure could do at best is impeachment will pass in House, but fail in Senate to remove.
OP is right about what voters care most right now. Jobs, affordable healthcare without unaffordable deductibles, relief from the tight squeeze middle class is feeling, good schools in big cities, infrastructure.
Majority of new winners in 2018 races ran on a platform to get things done, not investigations. That is the winning formula in 2020 to dump Trump at the ballot box.
uponit7771
(90,304 posts)... the report.
Like Stacy Abrahams said: "... it's like your brother giving a summary of your report card to your parents..."
We can walk and chew gum and not be loud doing either one.
Move on is a RWTP right now and if they add no full report quickly then Barr's credibility even goes lower, as if that could happen
at140
(6,110 posts)Of him until he was recently nominated for AG. Rosenstein has acted in a manner recently which does give him some credibility. He did not hinder Mueller investigation in any form.
I am confident the Mueller report will become public with redactions of course. Even Trump has said so. I just don't see how it can be kept hidden very long.
uponit7771
(90,304 posts)at140
(6,110 posts)Release is controlled by DOJ, not congress, as it stands, as far as I know. Trump has said he is OK with release of entire report (with redactions of course) and DOJ is part of Executive branch.
Mitch can try to pass a bill stopping the release, but it has less chance to pass in congress than me winning 100 meters sprint in next Olympics. (I am almost 79 years old...and that reminds me today is my day to visit Gym because with the Gym I have outlived my dad and all uncles on both sides)

(30,613 posts)Whatever it takes to get rid of Republicans is what Dems must do.
We can talk about those issues, even put them to House votes. That will at least show voters what Dems care about.
We can't ignore the Reptilian Party's corruption though; voters need to know WHY Reptilians will NEVER want to actually solve problems.

https://www.newsday.com/news/nation/mueller-report-trump-reaction-1.28941409
That decision is up to the attorney general, Sanders said when asked to state if the White House was opposed to fully airing the Mueller report. Its not just about this president, but about the future as well, and making sure things like executive privilege, and sources and methods and things like that are protected.
https://www.axios.com/trump-mueller...lic-6c2c1e52-ad3b-46ac-ba32-927373acd2b8.html
Asked by reporters whether special counsel Robert Mueller's full report should be made public, President Trump said: "It's up to the attorney general, but it wouldn't bother me at all."
They're putting the decision on the lacky that just summarily pardoned Red Don, if by the end of the week if Red Don's lackies aren't calling for a full release then I'm thinking Barr lied.

It would be nice if they did mix a little legislative news in with the Trump collusion reporting once and a while, but I'm guessing they would get less advertising money from pharma, insurance and investment companies if they did that.
