I've been sick to my stomach for days now. Haven't spent much time here. Generally pissed off and depressed.
Not sure now how I feel about Mueller and all the secrecy. Maybe it seemed like a good idea at the time. Right now it seems like Mueller pulled a Comey for Trump for 2020. Maybe that will change if Mueller testifies before Congress. It's frightening to think that it may not.
Consolation: Continuing House investigations as well as SDNY and a host of other investigations. That said, Trump has spent 50 years skirting the law. Who's to say he's not doing the same now. Basically, he's telling everyone, Prove It, and everyone can't. Oh, sure, Manafort, Gates, Flynn, et al, convicted, but they are footnotes. The mob boss is free as a bird. Oh, and by the way, what's with all that Flynn and Gates still cooperating? What was that all about?
Well, that didn't help one bit.

(7,178 posts)The only time I've been sicker is right after the 2016 election. The sickness comes from the DEEP KNOWLEDGE that everything that happened was bullshit skullfuckery and corruption at the highest levels. But because I'm stupidly optimistic, I think there are dark days ahead for the Trump cabal. That is, if Barr doesn't find a way to shut down SDNY, which I know he's actively trying to do.
I will never give up fighting for democracy.

(17,276 posts)Hold hearings and investigations. Get as much information out to the voting public as possible. We probably put too much faith in one single thing--the Mueller report. More may still come of that, but it's not going to be simple. It will take a lot of dedicated people.
The saving thought for me is that as we've seen from the Mid-terms, most of the people are not buying into Trump and his cabal. And he's not adding to his tiny base, rather is doing things to alienate them. Now they want to take away the ACA!
Bottom line, vote the bastards out, one and all! In less than two years, they could be gone. In the meantime, support Dems who have the power to damage TrumpCo through exposure.

(25,111 posts)My "gut" feeling is that Barr will be under scrutiny because of the lying summary and obstruction . . he won't sleep well.
My "gut" feeling is that Shithole and his fucked up family won't be able to sleep well either.
They all will, including the Republican party will be constantly looking over their shoulder. They are miserable people, and don't trust nobody because that is who they are.
That is not living and tons of wealth and property doesn't make you happy. sad.

(10,749 posts)But - and I know I'm being a downer - I can't help but wonder how far these investigations will go at the FBI and elsewhere in the DOJ with Trump appointees and sympathizers. And I'm still nagged by the feeling that the CIA has intelligence from its sources and that other intelligence agencies have intel from their sources about Trump's treasonous activities. And yet. . . crickets.

(15,857 posts)They have to cull things that would jeopardize sources and methods. That is a good reason for the crickets IMO.

(53,567 posts)The Trump administration has really taken its toll and there doesn't seem to be any cure.
There are many investigations still going on, so I am hopeful, but still it is hard to listen to this fool acting like he's been vindicated, not to mention his minions in DC acting like they dodged a bullet and now everything is going to be okay.

(5,950 posts)I've moved my 401k out of stocks and into bonds because I expect the market to crash in the next year.
I've bought silver and even some crypto currency
I've refinanced all variable rate debt to fixed rate.
It might be my gun nut brother in law rubbing off on me but even bought a pistol and a little safe to store it in.
I feel like some paranoid nut job as I type this, but I am so very afraid for our country's future. I honestly don't expect the worst to happen or to need any of this, but IMO there is enough of a possibility I am playing it safe.

(63,221 posts)I will never stop trying, but my morale has gone to hell. I just feel so defeated.
It's like, c'mon there has to be some "benevolent being" out there in the cosmos who can just arrange to throw us Democrats a bone every once in a while? Can't we get ever get a break and can't they ever crash and burn?

(13,776 posts)Can you imagine how much worse it would be if the GOP were still in charge of their investigations? I think our country would have been over and done with if it werent for the midterms. As it is, we just have to be patient. Which sucks, but it could be so much worse.
As I was watching Stephen Colberts monologue last night I realized that most of society is on our side. Most people are good. Most people dont like corruption. Societally were winning: most people love Queer Eye, everyone wants insurance coverage for preexisting conditions... the GOP has its backwards base and we have everyone else. People like us just dont make the newsthe bad guys doso its easy to forget that there are more of us than there are of them.
