WH will get the Mueller report before the public does in case it wants to make redactions, Barr says

Terrific. What could possibly go wrong. Please, someone, tell me this is illegal?
EDIT to add: msnbc is saying this is a lie, per DOJ official

The White House will get the Mueller report before the public does in case it wants to make redactions, Barr says

Attorney General William Barr will send the special counsel Robert Mueller's report on the Russia investigation to the White House before the public sees it, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said Tuesday.

Graham said Barr told him he would send the report to the White House first in case it wants to claim executive privilege over any parts.

Mueller's full report is likely to contain crucial details about the motivations behind the myriad contacts and meetings President Donald Trump's associates had with Russians, as well as Trump's repeated deference to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump's defense lawyers have previously said they want a chance to review and "correct" the Mueller report before it's made public.

Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said Tuesday that Attorney General William Barr told him he would send the special counsel Robert Mueller's final report on the Russia investigation to the White House before the public sees it, in case it wants to claim executive privilege over any parts.

Graham, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, also said Barr told him it would most likely take "weeks, not months," to make a version of Mueller's final report public.

1. I noticed that too!

Why, so the fucking moron can tell him what else to block from the report. It will end up to be 20 pages instead of his 19 page opinion. Now it will be editied by the person who is the target...what the fuck?!?!?

3. How can exec priviledge be claimed for a report on possible criminal investigation? This ...

rings very hollow.

4. Exerting executive privilege effectively nullifies any need for it to go public

Anything remotely negative will be redacted and all that will be left are the statements related to no indictments or no prosecution for collusion/conspiracy).

8. It likely isn't.

I strongly suspect the report will get leaked, regardless if whatever stunts the Trump Crime Syndicate tries to pull with it. Much like the Pentagon Papers were.

Who would get in trouble?

17. No. It is not legal

Whoever leaks it will get in trouble, just as Daniel Ellsberg did when he leaked the Pentagon Papers. That's if they get caught.

12. Of course it will. Let the criminal edit the crime report before it's released.

Normal procedure -- for REPUBLICANS.

So I don't see how he could shield this either.

14. So long as the democrats receive an unredacted copy, I'm okay with this (for now).

Disallowing congress from having access to the full report via executive privilege is tantamount to a balance of power end around. Trump may not understand this but Barr and the DOJ certainly understand the implications of a president attempting to hide evidence which demonstrates high crimes, misdemeanors and/or Treason. We had another president try this once. An 18 minute gap didn't work then and it won't work now.

16. The Republican Report aka Mueller report. Trumpf would like to make up more BS to put into

Trumpf would like to make up more BS to put into the "republican report". It wasn't enough for them with the "official BS".
