Snip < As a progressive, a Ron Paul/Dennis Kucinich presidential ticket would stoke my fires. It might also attract Republicans who long for the partys non-interventionist, fiscally conservative roots.
snip< Merging polar opposite sides of the political spectrum could be one of the most politically pure, bipartisan ideological unions yet. Through that union, political dualities would ideologically balance each other out, appealing to divergent ends of the political spectrum.

(7,968 posts)But I don't think I could stomach Paul at the top of the ticket. And how could Kuchinich with a clear conscious.

(16,207 posts)She's too smart to buy into a ticket with a guy who already has been demonstrated to have less than women's best interests at heart. I can't believe she'd remain silent about it, either.

(41,203 posts)First of all, it would be endorsing evil. Paul hates public services; is opposed to any sort of social safety net; is a so-called libertarian but one who would deny women any reproductive rights; and, whether or not he's a racist, is certainly a friend of racists. This is the sort of person to be marginalized as much as possible, not encouraged.
Secondly, any liberal who got to be president with Paul as his running-mate would probably have a short life expectancy, as Paul's pals on the Far Right would do their best to use 'Second Amendment remedies' to make their hero become President as soon as possible.
And if it was Paul on the top of the ticket- what would it matter who his running-mate was?

They are pretty much in sync on foreign policy and on civil liberties. Of course, not at all on the social safety net.
Still, apparently Kucinich said he'd consider Paul as a VP, when he was running for president.
