Moon, Findley, Robinson Twps, Mt Lebanon, Upper St Clair plus Peters Twp in Washington County.

Looking at the results, Iovino won big in Mt Lebo and environs, but Peters Twp hasn't reported its results yet.

16. PA state Senate pick-ups are truly stunning

For the non-Pennsylvanians here, prior to the 2018 mid-terms, the GOP held a 34-16 supermajority in the state Senate. With this pick up, the GOP edge is now 26-22 with 2 open R-held seats to be filled during the May 21st primary. And the GOP did Dems a huge favor by nominating for the Gettysburg-based SD-33 a Trump-humper retired Army officer. According to the latest F and M poll, Trump is underwater in every area, including central PA, except SW PA.

but this was also his 3rd run at elective office. He was a known quantity and just hasn't generated any enthusiasm in any of his candidacies.

State Rep. Mark Mustio said on Friday he will end attack ads against primary election opponent D. Raja that fellow Republicans have labeled “racist” and “anti-Indian” because they exploit racial stereotypes.

“I don’t have a racist bone in my body,” Mustio, who is white, said in an interview. “The emphasis is on India because that’s where he sent the jobs.”

Mustio’s campaign for the state Senate seat mailed thousands of flyers printed with the messages, “D. Raja has outsourced many of our jobs to India,” and, “Why would we ever vote for Raja to represent us?” next to pictures of India’s flag and a map of the country. Another ad features a photo of Raja and his full first name, Dakshinamurthy.

Raja, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in India, is listed as D. Raja on Allegheny County Election Division ballot materials.

I am sure that had some blow-back this election, given the Rethugs are now the party of the hater Trump

I don’t live in this district, but do live nearby. Many of the mouth breathers who voted for Trump stayed home for this election because they didn’t want to vote for an Indian.

Mount Lebanon has been Republican for probably 50 years, and now they're blue. Rep. Connor Lamb (who's from Mount Lebanon) blazed the trail in 2018 when he won the US 18th district seat. When the right candidate steps up and organizes a good campaign message, people will respond.

There are no "deep red" districts any more, now that the disgust with Chump's party is so high.

Mt. Lebanon "deep red." It's a wealthy area (I don't know how gerrymandered it is, I'm from the east, but I lived in Pittsburgh a bunch of years ago) and probably isn't "the base." When I was out there it was sane people with money who voted Repug so they could keep their money (or so they thought.) While I'm glad for any flip in the state legislature we can get, I wouldn't read too much into it. Pennsylbama it ain't.

But the Democratic Party stopped trying to win there because the Republicans were well-organized and they always seemed to win. Like I said, nobody made much effort to unseat the GOP until Connor Lamb did it last March. He showed it can be done. Then his district got redrawn and he still won in his new district last November.

For this special election (PA legislature) Raja tried to run his GOP campaign per-usual with lots of negative TV ads. Pam Iovino had lots of help getting out the vote for her. She did a great job with volunteers, even though she didn't have a large advertising budget. It was a good campaign and she won.
