Are you allowed just to rant on here? Just wondering. I've been kicked of some pages on fakebook for what they said was inappropriate behavior. I'm not well educated like many of you here. When I was young survival was a lot more immediate. Thanks to spell check I seem smarter than I really am. Just because a person can't spell doesn't mean they are less intelligent. Many haven't had the proper education. Some writers have this problem. Stephen King being one. I notice people here seldom make fun of people for mis- spelling words. Thanks DU
I try so hard not to let my anger overcome me. I try hard not to react in a violent manner. I'm too old anyways. I'd just get my ass kicked or worse. When I saw Joe Biden on the news doing this apology thing. I became enraged. My Granddaughter was watching too. She cried out. OMG! Leave that poor little old man alone. All this beating up on him because he made someone uncomfortable. Her words not mine. My words were FOR FUCK SUCKS! Democrats! Stop cannibalizing each other.
Let's talk about uncomfortable. What makes me uncomfortable and others like me. The treatment of human beings on the border. The mistreatment of people trying to escape dire straits. This piece of shit President we have that breaks traditional norms on a daily basis.
19 women accused him of sexual assault. Hell he confessed to it on television. What? People don't believe what's on the tube anymore. Evangelicals acting like he walks on water. No! He floats on Bullshit! He cheats at everything. He cheats on his wives. He cheats on his taxes. He even cheats at gulf. He's a stone cold asshole. It makes me uncomfortable that Democrats in Oklahoma are being bullied on a daily basis. Our Democratic houses being defaced. People being slaughtered in our streets. Because they are economically deprived? I don't care if anyone agrees with me. That's just some media driven horseshit. The right is making memes calling Adam Schiff 'pencil neck' That's the law and order president doing this. School yard bully. A cowardly lion. Someday little Toto from Kansas is going to rise up and bite him in the ass.
Please don't tell me not to be angry. It won't help anyway. That train has left the station. I got this anger and it burns like a furnace. The furnace keeps me alive.

(14,118 posts)I feel that it's not necessary for you to apologize for any self-perceived personal shortcomings.
Survival is a matter of practice, a statement made by the author Terry Pratchett, and survival gives us an education that cannot be matched by instruction received in formal institutions. I mean, look at the rat bastards we have in government who graduated from "prestigious" colleges and universities! All I'm saying is hold your head up. Your friends have your back.

(535 posts)Anger in response to the events of the last few years should be the reaction, if you have a soul. I don't care if you can spell, only if you can reason. You've got that down, so feel free to rant away.

(12,182 posts)...you have NO trouble at all making yourself not only understood, but engaging, as well. You clearly have intelligence and a facility with words beyond what you describe as the less-than-extensive education you profess to have.
You need no caveats.

(3,741 posts)What most folks don't understand is that poor spelling is a hindrance to good writing. I hesitate to use certain vocabulary because I can't spell it so thank goodness for the squiggly red line under the misspelled words. My spelling can be so out of the ballpark that sometimes even spellcheck can't help ! I actually give out a cheer when the word I have just spelled is correct. No worries, keep writing, keep venting, keep sharing. Good people on this site.

Dear Quote Investigator: I sometimes have difficulty spelling words correctly. But I take comfort in the magnificent statement attributed to Mark Twain:
I dont give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way.
Actually, I used to take comfort in those words, but recently I have found several other versions of this quip:
Anyone who can only think of one way to spell a word obviously lacks imagination.
I have no respect for a man who can spell a word only one way.
Never trust anyone who cant spell a word more than one way.
All of these quotations are credited to Twain. But now I have become suspicious. Did Twain say any of these sentences? Could you investigate this puzzle?
Quote Investigator: The statement has never been found in the writings or speeches of Mark Twain. Yet, Twain has been connected to the remark for more than one hundred and thirty years. The earliest linkage known to QI consisted of an unsupported attribution published in 1875: 1
Mark Twain says that he must have little genius who cant spell a word in more than one way.
Since Twain lived to the age of 74 in 1910, the remark was credited to him for a few decades while he was alive. The TwainQuotes website of Barbara Schmidt includes an excellent webpage on the theme of spelling. However, none of the quotes featured match the joke precisely. The attitudes expressed do h

(4,341 posts)Regarding your first comment "Are you allowed just to rant on here?", I believe that yes you are and you should be no matter who you are ranting about. The one thing that I do not agree with is when people flag you because you said something about a democratic politician that you do not agree with, there is a clause about "not bashing Democrats" which can sometimes be taken too far and then your post is flagged.
I believe we need the ability to disagree with our Democratic representative when they say or do things they should not. I saw an entry that was flagged when someone was furious about Kirsten Gillibrand going on a campaign against Al Franken, I agreed with that person and still do, but he/she was flagged as "bashing a democrat". I have to think that 90% of DU members disagreed with Kirsten Gillibrand then, and are still angry about it.
So please rant, just be civil about it, which you have been, don't insult, which you have not, and I believe you will find fans among us.
I don't think Biden should have apologized either, like Franken, IMHO his accusers are not legit, and they seem to have a personal agenda. Republicans know most Democrats will apologize about things they have not done but are being accused of doing, they take advantage of that and they know when to find their targets, as long as Democrats continue to oblige, they will continue to do it. Imagine the satisfaction of repubs when Al Franken resigned...I am sure they had a private party to celebrate, and who offered the gift? Kirsten Gillibrand and other Democrats...Am I still angry about it? Of course I am, and the only way I will give my vote to Kirsten Gillibrand is if she becomes the candidate.

(95 posts)I got kicked off a couple of blog pages. One for Christian bashing. I worked on a few and had my own blog page too. Too much grief. Too many trolls and all people want to do is insult one another. I have not touched fakebook in over a year. Basically I was trying to tell them it wasn't the holy ghost they were full of.

(95 posts)I just wanted to elaborate my story if you don't mind.
Hope I don't get in trouble here. Touchy subject for some. I hope someone sees this. I want them to know. I still love them, but I'm still pissed.
Like I said I worked on a couple of blog pages as an administrator. I worked on a page for IDK maybe a year and a half. I thought we were trying to build bridges between Christians and Atheist and anything in between. Sounds good right. Sounds helpful right. Everything was going along pretty good. I worked my butt off for them. Then I made a mistake. I said out loud I'm not a Christian. Although nothing I posted was anything different than they themselves posted or what I posted previously. They said I was bashing Christians. I question them about something. I said I might not be a Christian but I know a hypocrite when I see one. And no, I'm not Christian. I've read their book. Not like my life depended on it though. They got into a pissing match with me and then the pile on. A preacher told them "It's not Christian bashing to ask questions." To call them out for hateful behavior. They called me idiot, used the f word numerous times. Quick to point out any spelling errors or mis quotes. This one really gets me. Non-believers can't judge us believers. It's not allowed. I said. "Who says?"
What a marvelous defense mechanism. That's quite the shield, but no. They said "You have no faith and shame on you for criticizing people of faith trying to do good." Who said I didn't have faith? Faith is just believing in something you can't see. Bigotry is bigotry no matter if you think God's on your side or not. I told them "God's not on your side" Ouch! I didn't mean that God is against them. I meant I don't think God takes sides. Blah blah.
Jesus fought against injustice. He didn't join in. The preacher, he's my neighbor. I saw on his facebook page cheering on Donald Trump. This was before he ran for office. It was about repealing Health Care and how much it's costing this Country. I did send him a private message. You know I said. "I wouldn't take any financial advice from Trump if I was you. That's a tremendous burden people carry on their shoulders when they can't get Health Insurance." Do you know what he said?
"I don't like Socialism" We went round and round a bit until I knew he had about enough of me when he said "Yes! Jesus had a negative opinion of rich people!!!!!!!!!!!!" Laugh out loud but ain't funny

(1,443 posts)Come on, his behavior is creepy. I've experienced men who thought they were privileged so they could ignore common norms and get by with it and never thought
about how the victim felt.
Did I say that? That's not what I meant. I know how women feel in those situations. I've worked in a place where men outnumbered the women by 25 to 2. They would chase me around tables and try to grab me. Good thing I was fast on my feet and pretty mean to boot. It's the pile on that bothers me. The hypocrisy. I'm glad times have changed. I too have experienced privileged men and women who because they are privileged think they can get away with anything they want. "See 'cause when your famous, women let you do it, anything......." It don't matter. It still makes me angry.
