Trump's California visit comes as decisions loom for his seaside golf course there

President Trump’s arrival in southern California Friday comes at a pivotal moment for his golf course there, which he once envisioned as a rival to Pebble Beach but which has suffered from blue-state backlash since Trump entered politics.

Trump has not announced plans to visit the golf course in coastal Rancho Palos Verdes as part of a West Coast swing that includes a visit to the border and fundraisers in Los Angeles.

But there are hints he will. The club is closed to visitors today. The city has closed hiking trails and parks nearby. The Federal Aviation Administration has also closed the airspace around the club from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Pacific time — a window that coincides with a blank spot in Trump’s official White House schedule for the day, when officials have declined to say where he’ll be.

“Temporary flight restrictions for VIP Movement,” the FAA notice said.

Trump’s visit comes as his golf club faces a decision about its future. The city recently granted approvals for 23 new home lots near the course — which would bring in new revenue, but also crowd the bucolic seaside landscape that appeals to golfers.

Trump’s company needs to decide whether to build on the lots, or sell them empty, or save them for later. Before he became president, that would be exactly the kind of decision that would bring Trump to his club.

So tax payers are paying for his business trip.

I bet the over cooked steak with ketchup and a slab of store bought choc cake costs us a couple of thousand dollars too.

The Latest: Trump visits his California golf club

President Donald Trump has made a dramatic appearance at his privately owned golf club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Trump landed in Marine One, making an unannounced visit to his Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles, as guests and members took photos and videos of his arrival.

The White House says that Trump is having a “private dinner” at the club, but is not providing any other details.
